Wow! I'm so relieved to hear that others are/were bewildered by the "Ho-Yay!" obsession at FT. I used to read those posts and wonder why, as a straight woman, thinking of two gay men together did not sexually arouse me, and why I didn't have the need to fantisize that two straight guys in a movie have homosexual undercurrents to their relationship. I used to wonder what, exactly, I was missing about this? It was very, very strange to me. As a literature PhD student specializing in, amongst other things, gender issues, I can tell y'all HoYay's been around for a looooong time. And it makes reading Moby Dick a lot better. |

It was just the lengths they went to on FT that was annoying. I mean not everything is HoYay filled, you know? For instance: Kirk and Spock? Sure. Picard and Riker? Don't be gross.

HoYay can be annoying because very often it's not anything intentional, it's just two guys on screen. At times, on FT and TwoP, anytime there are two males in any sort of circumstance they are soooo gay.
