I loved "How Stella Got Her Groove Back" and I personally feel really badly for Terry. But this shouldn't shape or mess with her career - I hope for her sake it does not.

NEVER send nasty letters to a spouse you want to divorce - they just might haunt you later in court. Best-selling author Terry McMillan found out the hard way during her ugly split with ex-husband Jonathan Plummer. Her marriage to the much-younger Jamaican, which inspired the book and movie "How Stella Got Her Groove Back," imploded earlier this year after Plummer confessed to a gay affair. But recently obtained divorce papers reveal he wasn't the only one getting his groove on. In a series of letters submitted to the court by Plummer, McMillan throws her own affairs in his face: "I wonder how you'd feel if I told you that I had plenty of sex when I was in New York. When I was in Spain and Paris," McMillan wrote. "That I have been cheating on you for three years because you were a drag, because you were boring, because you got on my nerves because you were embarrassing . . . you acted like a homosexual and you couldn't carry on an intelligent conversation." McMillan won her case in spite of the screeds, paying Plummer just $50,000 to walk away, reports Justice magazine.

How could this have not pinged her gaydar? I remember reading How Stella Got Her Groove back and imagining some delicious Jamaican guy ... then I saw a picture of her husband and was so disappointed.

Aw. That looks kinda harsh. Him standing all smiles and giggles with a heading about how his "wife" LOST HER GROOVE. The dude pretty much used a deluded woman to get a free ride to the States. He should try to look at least a little ashamed of himself!

(But all that said... look at all the hotties in the pictures surrounding him! Um umm UMMM!! Oy Yay Ho Yay!!)

To be more on topic. I've only read "Waiting to Exhale" (though I saw the movie verison of "Stella") I was so frustrated with that book. It started out promising, but by the end, none of the four characters seemed to have grown that much or learned anything from their experiences. I didn't want to give any of her other books a shot after that.

Jonathan has a great body, I'll give him that. Terry M seems like a real bitch, and frankly they both used each other.

I don't think Jonathan had some big malicious plan to use her, but I think it's odd how he goes from being someone who claimed he was so ashamed to be gay and feared for his life in Jamaica because of it to suddenly going to so many media outlets and becoming a gay magazine cover boy.
