JenniPoo, your observation wasn't rude, just on the money. On topic, I enjoyed Miss Congeniality, but I think I'll wait for the dollar show to see the sequel -- wait, I saw the first one at the dollar show. Guess I'll wait for cable.

She's going to be on Ellen this Thursday. Maybe she'll poke puppies with sticks.

Sandy has always been so normal and sweet, that one stupid-ass comment gets a pass from me. Besides, she's probably starting to realize that she may be childless forever. She seems to have gone back and forth on the kid issue for years, and it seems like she's made a final decision. Even though it's her choice, it probably is a little bit of a downer.

I just read she's getting a star on the walk of fame on the 24th. And the best part?? It's right next to Keanu's star. Yay! That seems so fitting, they do seem to have an awesome relationship. Love them together and can't wait for 'The Lake House', it's about time they did another movie together.

I heard she likes to build houses. Maybe she just uses him for his wood. Not THAT kind, ew.

I'd want to hear more context in that interview before I dump on Sandy. She's just so likeable. She gives a ton of money to charity in a relatively quiet manner, so I guess she can talk about selfishness a bit more than most celebs.

I'm with you. As someone who has decided not to have kids, I've gotten really sick of being drilled with the "when are you going to have kids?" and the inevitable, "why not?" questions and more than once I've shot back something snotty, just out of pure annoyance. You don't ask people "Oh, why did you ever have a kid?" Her comment doesn't bother me at all.
I have to confess that no matter how bad the movie, if Sandra Bullock is in it, I'm there man.

She seems to have gone back and forth on the kid issue for years, and it seems like she's made a final decision. Even though it's her choice, it probably is a little bit of a downer. I always used to think she was so normal and sweet but when she was promoting Miss Congeniality she did an opening in Austin and a friend of mine got to interview her (he's a reporter) and she was a total nasty bitch to her. I got to watch her raw footage tape and she was just snide and bitchy and rufused to give more than one word answers. This was set up in advance on the red carpet. The next night I watched Entertainment Tonight and Sandy is answering the same vapid questions from an ET reporter only with a huge huge smile on her face. Why? I assume it's because she knew tons of people would see the ET clip and not that many would see my friends. The whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth. It's red carpet, it's arranged in advance, suck it up and smile for the cameras. Julia Roberts was also a big rag that night to all the non-national reporters but Benjamin Bratt was really nice apparently.

I just saw the new Miss Congeniality and laughed a lot. The best is that it's weighted towards rewatchable rather than enjoyable/forgettable, the rating that most stuff gets from me.

Wow, John-boy's Mole, I cannot believe people are nosey and rude enough to ask Why not? My God. It's no one's damned business! I think a lot of people assume that childless women "can't" have kids because something is "wrong" with them, and they want to know what it is. I'm sure if someone answered that question with something like "Well, my husband and I both travel a lot and we have twelve neices and nephews who we take care of often" the questionner would be unsatisfied. They want awful, sordid, tragic details like how you accidentally dropped your uterus in the wood-chipper. I kid, but I'm serious too. People are sick that way.
Anyway, I like Sandra Bullock and I suspect that her comments come from her defensiveness and maybe bitterness over not having kids, and I can actually agree with her argument on SOME level. (I remember when Angelina Jolie adopted Maddox, she said something about how she'd rather care for a child already in need of a parent than bring another one into the world and leave another in an orphanage. I could sympathize with that). But, at the same time, SB's comments are just so offensive. Yeah, people don't have to have kids and there are a lot of children who would benefit from adoption and some people shouldn't be parents at all, but the act of having children isn't inherently selfish. It seems so irrational and mean to say that a healthy, happy adult is selfish to bring a child into the world and raise him into another healthy, happy, productive person. I think she probably meant to say something along the lines of what Angelina Jolie has said and it just came out all wrong. And I'm betting that has to do with people constantly bothering her and maybe her wanting kids but being afraid of running out of time. (God knows, I'm single and almost thirty and I'm so sick of people asking me why I'm not married that I've started saying all sorts of snarky things about married people).
