I think you're right. I remember what pissed me off about that book was that at the end <<the main guy and girl were too sick to get it on. I mean, I read all 100-some pages and I don't even get an implied sex scene? Lame.>>

Oh yes, Whisper of Death. I remember that one now. That was freaky.
The one about the monsters wasn't it about a lake being contaminated by some kind of other worldly being? And anyone that would swim in that lake or drink from it would become super human like their football team? But you would eventually turn into this creature like she does at the end. But she doesn't end up eating anyone after she wears the amulet. Wow Christopher Pike has quite the imagination doesn't he.
I liked Witch too. The ending is kind of sad though.

The Wicked Heart is a good one. It's the one about the murderer called Dusty and it has a lot of historical stuff in it, but it's about Hitler and the Nazis, and is quite interesting and scary. I think it was one of the last books Pike wrote before he got all obsessed with immortals and ancient civillizations.
Is he even still alive? If so, I'm assuming he has retired. When I'm at the book store, sometimes out of curiosity I check to see if he's written anything new, but he never has.

Hi, Spinster Liz. Yes, Pike is still alive and writing. About 2-3 years ago, he released a novel called "The Blind Mirror" and he's also got a new trilogy done, one of which I have... I don't know if the second one is out yet, but you can find info on em at amazon.com.

I loved Remember Me too, but I hated all his sequels. They seemed to always ruin the original book for me.
I thought Midnight Club was really good, simply because it was so sad and not weird, and showed that there wasn't always a miraculous happy ending.
Does anyone else remember Weekend? It was about these group of kids who go away and visit this girl who needs a kidney transplant since someone poisoned her a year ago?

I've been re-reading his books like crazy since I opened this thread. I still have most of my old books in a huge laundry basket in my closet, so I've been digging through it and coming across some gems. I actually ordered "The Cold One" and "Sati" from Amazon last week for one cent each -- they are the 2 adult novels that he did.

I have Bury Me Deep here in front of me. Mr. Bones' nephew has been bringing hisChristopher Pike books w/ him to family outings, so when I found this, I put it away for him. It was written in 1991, so it was past when I was interested in them in 1986 or so. After reading this thread, I think I'll read it before I give it to him.
Which story was the one that starts off w/ the kids in a car, going on some kind of trip. I think one of the main characters was named Parker or something like that. I remember being interested in a name that started out as a job description.
I also remember the slumber party one. The ending freaked me out.

Does anybody remember The Eternal Enemy? It confused the hell out of me when I first read it, but it turned out to be one of my favorites. It also has one of the creepiest scenes I have ever read: Rela is dreaming about her past, which is actually in the future, and, in her dreams, she remembers the procedure she underwent to become a robot. She's feeling them remove and replace body parts but can't say anything or scream - even when they rip out her spine. I swear to God, every time I see someone's spine [with, like, the bones forming bumps], I remember that scene. Gah.
