Twilight Moms? Ew.
On the plus side, it does make me more thankful about my mom retaining her own sanity. Really shouldn't take that for granted.

The bookstore I work at got an advance copy of The Host this week, and I'm about halfway through. I'm actually liking it more than I thought I would. There are a lot of typical Stephenie Meyer cliches -- lots of things are snarled, hissed, or said through gritted teeth, but other than that, it's interesting.
(Though I have to admit that the name of the main character -- Melanie Stryker -- made me laugh. That doesn't sound at all like Stephenie Meyer, does it? I mean I know she totally lives vicariously though her characters but there's no need to make it that obvious!)

I really want to read the Host but I really don't want to spend any money on it, so it's gonna have to be a trip to the library for me. Meyer really struck gold with Twilight but I wonder if she has the ability to write another novel that induces a crack-like addiction or another character like Edward. Melanie Stryker has to be Bella Mk II tho, right?

I got a chance to finish it this weekend, and I think I might actually like it better than Twilight. At no point while reading did I stop and think to myself: "Why am I punishing myself with this book?" which I have to admit was what I was thinking though a large chunk of Eclipse. Melanie (and Wanderer, the alien) are not even close to being as obnoxious as Bella, thankfully. I think I appreciated the fact that the book concentrated on the human characters, instead of the aliens, who are naturally flawed and therefore a lot more interesting. I think the Cullens can get boring sometimes because they're so perfect. I have to say though, (tiny, vague spoilers ahoy) << the whole "the first love triangle with only two bodies!" bit that the publishers are trying to sell isn't really tue. It starts out that way, but then about halfway through it turns into this very strange sort of love-square. I don't think this is what SM originally intended -- in fact on her website it says that one of the characters involved was meant to just be a background character at first -- but I think the book is actually better with that plot twist.>> I'm excited for this to come out -- I want to talk about it with someone about it!

There are a lot of typical Stephenie Meyer cliches -- lots of things are snarled, hissed, or said through gritted teeth, but other than that, it's interesting I am so jealous of youuuu!!!! We'll discuss when I grab my copy SMeyer is having a book Q&A at Torrance High (aka: Sunnydale High, aka: Heaven if your a Buffy fan) and I am thinking of going. Granted I'll be there with a bunch of crazed TwiMoms and teens. I think I am wanting to go because I know it'll be entertaining.. Also, as bad as this is going to sound... I want to get my books autographed.. Also, you can get a copy of The Host... Anyone in L.A area interested? What should I ask her? She'll probably get a lot of stupid questions like, "What is it like touching RPatz (lol--although that is not really a stupid question because, god, what i wouldn't give to do that...), or what is playing on her ipod.. I should ask her something along the lines of: "Mrs. Meyer.. You clearly have an unhealthy obsession with female characters who cannot take care of themselves without a man in their lives.. Is this a reflection of your own personal problems? Also, stop cock-blocking Edward. We're all tired of that shit. kthx."

I read all three books in three and a half days. Couldn't really afford to do it as I have a deadline with my writing looming ahead of me, but I couldn't help myself.
I may be a loan dissenting opinion, but I didn't really care for the Jacob storyline. I actually got a bit bored of it after a while and wondered why Jacob or all the other boys liked Bella so much. There wasn't enough to her for them to like her as much as they do. Also, the fact that she feels so strongly toward both Ed and Jake seemed off to me. I guess Jake is a rebound thing?
Still I liked it and would love to know more about the next book. Pretty please? You can send me a pm if you want. I just can't take the suspense.

I watched the teaser trailer, and Edward is not anywhere near that pasty in the movie. (Or is that sparkles that just aren't reading on my screen?) That said, I just finished Eclipse this morning. Good Lord, that was a slog - yet I did want to know how it ended. Unlike The Host, which I quit reading halfway through because I really didn't care about any of the characters.

I can't believe that EW cover is real. I mean...it just can't be. It pains me to look at it, and normally I think that Cedric Diggory kid is a babe. What genius thought that cover looked good?
