I guess that is why they did it, so sellers cannot leave retaliatory feedback. But it is making my buyers awfully relaxed about actually paying on time. And today, I have a new huge beef. Although it is probably more with the shipping services. I sold a Pottery Barn Kids Anywhere Chair insert that my son used as a toddler. It was in fantastic shape and I got $62 for it! Yay! Unfortunately, it was rather bulky and although it weighed only 2 lbs., I had to pack it in a large box. Tried to schedule a pickup with USPS and they told me it would cost $68 to ship! From AL to FLA! I said no thank you, I will take it to UPS. The UPS lady was lovely, but told me that it would cost at minimum $39. There went my profit.

That happens to me all the time. I do my best to estimate the shipping properly, but it almost always ends up costing more than I thought.
The last two times I sold something on Ebay, I got bitched at about how the items were "late" (two weeks from Canada to the U.S. via surface mail didn't seem that bad to me). One of the buyers even asked if I "really had the item to sell". Gee, no, I was lying about that People magazine so that I could cackle madly about the magnificent profit of $5 that would ensure a comfortable and immediate retirement. *eyeroll*

I did a "buy it now" on a scanner on August 24th. I paid immediately using PayPal. It still hasn't arrived. I sent an email to the seller on Sep. 10th, and got in response on the 12th to the effect that it would arrive soon. It hasn't. My last few emails have been ignored.
So I looked into the Buyer Protection on PayPal, and am glad I did, as a claim must be filed with 45 days of the auction ending. I filed a claim, and am waiting to see if anything happens.
My question is, has anyone had any experience with this? Am I screwed? I kinda just want my money back, because the latest scanners have better resolution for not much more than I paid for the auction and shipping.

From what I've been through (rules may have changed, it's been about two years now, maybe three), Paypal will do their investigation, all it takes is an email to the seller, "Hey, did you send out this item?" and if they get no response and no delivery confirmation, then they'll refund your $$. The only problem with that is if the seller has taken all their $$ out of their PP account, there would be nothing to give back to you.
Crossing my fingers for you! Those bad eggs piss me the fck off.

In the resolution section, it says if the auction said "Pay with PayPal and your full purchase price is covered."
It did, and I did, so It should be covered by PayPal, even if the seller's account is empty. But I bet they won't give me my shipping money back. And they will take their sweet time doing it, I'm sure.
Further along is a section detailing what will happen to you if you try to screw a buyer over, the worst of which appears to be that they will freeze and close your PayPal account. In theory, I guess that means you would lose your ability to keep scamming people, but I don't remember how hard it was to sign up in the first place, or how hard it would be to close one account and open another without PayPal figuring it out. Still, it seems like a lot of work to scam someone for $65.

That's comforting to know, though, that they've started covering all purchases regardless if the seller's account is empty.
I remember when I set up my Paypal account, I linked it to my bank account. If the Paypal account is frozen or closed, I'd think you'd need to get another bank account because they probably track that? Who knows.

Paypal doesn't let the same bank account, credit card, or debit card be used on different accounts. Mr Lax and I have our own individual Paypal accounts, but we have to use different payment methods for each of them, so I imagine anyone who had an account closed for fraud would need to open a new bank account if they wanted to keep their scams going.

yay, double post...
Has anyone ever tracked a package and saw it progressively move away from you?
The USPS tracking number a seller gave me shows my package moving from Michigan to Maryland. I live in Seattle. The seller insists this is the tracking number for my package. It just seems very weird USPS would route it far east before sending it back to the west.

LAX - we're all victims of the USPS/UPS/FedEx hub systems. For whatever reason, shit's gotta go through he hub(s) of all carriers before it gets to you, even if it means adding 3-4 days to the trip. Ridiculous.

If anyone cares, i never heard anything from the scanner seller or PayPal, but about two weeks ago, the money was credited back to my credit card, and I can no longer leave any feedback, not even positive (as if).
