How many days do buyers have to pay for an item? I've only sold maybe four things on ebay in about as many years, so I don't have a lot of experience with selling. My auction ended on Wednesday, and I haven't heard anything from the buyer. Is this strange? Am I just too eager? I sent the invoice right after the auction ended. How much time do I give? A week? I have a really busy week coming up, and packing and shipping this item is going to take some time. I was hoping they would buy immediately so that I could get the item out during this past week. Also, it sold for quite a bit of money, and I would kind of like to have it!

If you didn't state a time limit for payment (I normally asked for payment within three days unless the buyer contacted me beforehand and asked for more time), then I would give the buyer a week. But I would send a message off right on Wednesday if you haven't heard from him/her.
Good luck!

Ever since they eliminated seller feedback, my buyers seem to take their sweet time to pay, even though I clearly state that if payment is not received within 48 hours of the auction closing, the transaction is canceled.

Ever since they eliminated seller feedback, my buyers seem to take their sweet time to pay, even though I clearly state that if payment is not received within 48 hours of the auction closing, the transaction is canceled. So do you just send a second chance offer to the second highest bidder? I don't think I'm going to have to do that with this item (ironically, in the past I have purchased items from the buyer in this particular auction, and the transactions have always been pretty smooth), but I don't know how long is too long to wait, if that makes sense. Since I didn't specify a payment date in the listing (in the future, I will, but since I rarely sell on e-bay, I didn't know to do this), I feel strange demanding a payment within a certain amount of time. I think I will take kanding's advice and wait until Wednesday. That will give the buyer a week, and if I haven't heard from them by then, I will send an e-mail stating that the transaction will be canceled if they do not send payment within the next 24 hours.

I had one buyer pay A MONTH later. I had already sold the item in a consignment sale.
I normally just relist because some of this stuff is so random (like a Pottery Barn Kids chair insert!) that I don't have a lot of buyers.

If anyone cares, i never heard anything from the scanner seller or PayPal, but about two weeks ago, the money was credited back to my credit card, and I can no longer leave any feedback, not even positive (as if). Was it magically credited, or was there an explanation from PayPal?

Thanks to Paypal I usually pay the same day the auction ends, often within minutes if I'm closely monitoring the auction. I have had a few people click the buy it now button, but then take days to pay up. Why the urgency to buy something, if you don't plan to pay right away.
I'm still tracking my package, which started in Michigan and went straight to Maryland. Its been in Maryland for a week now and no one can explain why. I'm beginning to think the seller mislabeled the package, or USPS misread the package, and ended bound for Washington DC rather than Washington State, but is now stuck in some sort of post office limbo.

Yeah, a few days later I got a note from PayPal saying the money had been refunded. No further explanation.
Speaking as an eager buyer who is collecting unemployment, if you're selling something I have been looking for, and your buy-it-now is low enough, I am tempted to go ahead and click that button. Even if I know the unemployment deposit is a few days away. Because I don't want someone else to get it while I'm waiting. I haven't actually done this, mind you, but I have been tempted.
ETA:Crap! I was guity of the "your/you're" error. Thanks to all who didn't call me on it!
