I think I would be more interested in what is admittedly some juicy celebrity gossip (though much of it sad and more revealing of Moore’s insecurity and attention-seeking than anything else) if she was a better actress. She is indeed awful, though very pretty and absolutely impressively self-promoting. I am not sure her children need this book to exist.

Kutcher sounds like a douche (unsurprising), but her alcoholism and self-destruction were not wholly his doing. The headlines seem to be emphasizing that quite a bit more than her own statements. And he seemed to have, at least at one point in her confessed spiral, have a decent relationship with his former stepdaughters.

I read a little synopsis of the Bruce stuff. He was "controlling", wanted to be king of the castle, didn't want Demi to work at all, wanted Demi just to stay home with the kids, but "wanted to do whatever the fuck he wanted". When he was off making movies, Demi knew that he was cheating on her. It got worse the more he grew to resent her "self-reliance".

And ironically, as soon as they divorced, Demi gave Bruce what he wanted and became a full-time stay-at-home mother and let him be the breadwinner.

Bruce sounds as bad as Ashton.

Demi said Ashton took a picture of her one night when she had her head in the toilet from drinking too much. He made it a joke, but Demi felt that he was "shaming" her with the photo. Well, yeah! He was the spouse of an alcoholic. Some addressing of the issue was in order. Al-Anon would call that "not enabling". Yeah, it sounds like he went about it in a dickish way, but I can see his side of it.

I have never liked Ashton! He is a total douchebag. I knew it!

Kutcher had drinks with Rumer this summer. Maybe she gave him a heads' up as to what was going to be in the book. His douchey cheating was likely less in-their-face than their mother's alcoholism. He probably was the more stable parent in the household at times.

I believe there were times that Demi's daughters were all estranged from her, but still spending time with Ashton.

It's generally considered good form for the author of an autobiography to notify people in advance if they are going to be the subject of delicate revelations in said autobiography, and let them read what's going to be written about them if they want. Demi said she's on good terms with Ashton, so maybe she did. It doesn't mean he'll agree with what she wrote though.

There were reports early on that she did let him know before release.

Well, the one thing I can say for Demi is that she's apparently got a hell of a PR team OR she's surprisingly relevant for someone who barely acts anymore, because I can't go anywhere on the internet without seeing a story on this damn book!

I'm on my library waiting list - I'm 96th. I will let you know in about a year what I thought of it.

I want to read this, but not enough to shell out $25.
