I torn between being a cheerleader form Nirvana's Smell Like Teen Spirit video and Tippi Hedren from The Birds. Out of nostalgia, I may do the Teen Spirit cheerleader.

Thank you, it was a stupid question, I know, but the adults act like it's Halloween all weekend long, so I didn't know if that was a new trend for the kids as well. Neighbors said to buy more candy than you think, I can't wait! I have never lived in a neighborhood with trick-or-treaters, so I'm really excited to see all their little costumes. Now if I can stop eating all the Snickers out of the mix bag... Actually, you might want to check with the city to see if they have "official" Halloween some other night. It's getting increasingly regulated, although it seems it's usually only 'rescheduled' if it's on a Sunday night.

Halloween is serious business! I'm looking around on the Denver site and not seeing anything, I will just have a bowl ready to go starting Saturday just in case.
Bringing up the Carmen Sandiego idea, I did it a few years ago, they sell a red pimp hat at Goodwill and any Halloween stores for under ten bucks that works perfectly. Just take the leopard print band off and put a yellow one on, I loved that costume. It was warm.
magho, I love the anarchist cheerleaders, and haven't seen that costume on anyone in forever. Instantly recognizable, do it!

Lordy, that is a great costume. I used to always compare our lab to an AT-AT, so it makes sense. But greyhounds have spindlier legs, so it works even better.

Mr chiqui still had his old car parts piled up at the side of the house. Maybe I can decorate it as a Halloween area and call it "The Haunted Junkyard." It's the first night I don't have to work on Halloween in a number of years.

In my neighborhood, the kids start trick-or-treating right after school. Since I'm home by 3, I'll be ready by then. There's usually a lull around dinner time and then the older kids start coming by. I usually close up shop around 8:00, since all the little kids are done by then and I'm not terribly interested in a group of 14 year-old boys who grabbed a pillow case and slapped on a mask. I love Halloween, but after 5 hours of treat giving, I'm usually ready to pack it in.

My Halloween decor is shaping up. I made a floating, glowing Frida Kahlo ghost head that will look pretty cool, and I will supplement it with a small Day of the Dead altar and some glowing skeleton lights. Mr chiqui left one of his heads* in the basement so I will incorporate it into an Aztec Mummy or zombie to prop up by the door. I can't wait!

I know the pressure is on for great costumes from me, but remember I am beholden to the whims of a four year old. So yes, I have made her a costume. Unfortunately, it's a pretty straight forward character. Her spin on it is that the character is a ghost. Yes, she wants to be ghost Jessie (Toy Story). I will post pics later.
