Found a groovy new place for import candy? Need to track down the best computer deal? Is there a sale at Penney's?
Go to it, kids!

Just to kick it off, my absolute favorite places in the world to shop are Woodbury Common, which is home to a motherfucking Chanel outlet, and the greater Honolulu area. Honolulu basically has two or more of every designer store (three Coach stores in Waikiki alone), a good outlet mall, and the Aloha Stadium swap meet for everything else.

The outlet mall in Williamsburg is practically tailor-made for me. A Michael Kors outlet, Gap, J.Crew, Ann Taylor, and of course the uniquitous Polo outlet. <3

I need to go outleting sometime soon. Right now I have an Ann Taylor Loft gift card burning a hole in my pocket but every time I've been in the store lately I've been unable to find anything I like. I hate it when that happens. I need tan pants but their pants fit me weirdly so maybe I'll just have to get some sweaters.

(*Runs happily into the thread*)Squeeeee!!! Thanks, Dwanollah! Okay, I kind of need advice, and I don't have a ton of time, so if anyone who can help me before 5 PM EST when I get off work, I'd greatly appreciate it! I'm going shopping for an iPod tonight, but I'm very new to all this. I'm not that old, only 42, but the damn things are foreign to me. And I'd like to get with the program since everyone on earth has them, but I don't want to be calling my 15 year old niece or bugging my 25 year old co-workers every two seconds and asking, "Okay, what do I do now?" So, here I go - I found a pretty good deal on an Apple iPod Nano, so I think I'm going to go with that. I've downloaded iTunes on my laptop at home, but where do I go from there? Can I put my CDs into my computer and drag songs onto the iPod from there? Or can I use only iTunes? If I want to drag half of my Def Leppard's "Vault" CD onto my iPod, can I do that, or do I have to pay .99 each for the same songs off of iTunes? If I can drag a CD onto it, can I only select a few songs, or does it have to be the whole CD and then delete what I don't want? How long do they take to charge if I plug it into my computer? Are they easy to use for someone tech-challenged like me? The guy at the store I'm getting it from seems pretty helpful - I asked him what the difference between an MP3 player and an iPod is, and he said virtually no difference, it's just that iPod is an Apple name brand. But what else do I need to know before I buy? Thanks in advance!

India7, you can import your CD onto your Itunes then put the songs on the ipod.So no paying the $.99 for music you already own!you can alos click and check the songs from the CD you want to import onto the Itunes as well so you aren't stuck with things you don't want on your hard drive. As for charging, I forget with my husband's ipod but if I remember correctly, the first charge took about 3 or so hours. Please don't quote me on that since we got the big 40 gig and you only are getting a nano so it may not take as long.
ETA: Hooray! a shopping thread. I don't have much around here in Army town, except the nifty PX which occasionally has some nice high end retail stuff that is tax free and sold at highly reduced prices! I mean we just got a Starbucks up here 6 months ago!But Nashville is an hour away and the glory of Opry Mills mall. Which is the closest to Mecca a hick town girl can get to.

I am a bit of a moron when it comes to all this but I must also repeat that itunes is fairly easy--especially the importing of music. It's all very user friendly too. If you have itunes open and put in a CD, the CD will show up on itunes and then you just click on a circle and import. It takes about a minute for a whole CD. At least on my computer it does.
You might need someone semi-saavy to help you set it all up but once that's done, you're easy to go. My husband set it up on my computer and it's simple now.
You can do just a few songs or the whole CD.
As for charging it, I'm not entirely sure how long it takes but I usually keep mine charged overnight and that works fine.
Now you just need to get yourself a cute little Nano case.

Limey and Jensational, thank you both so much! That does sound pretty easy! One of those rubber ones, right? It's just a cover? Do I have to have one, or is it optional? I've also decided I'm going for the Nano in black instead of the usual white. Mostly because I wanna be different, and everyone in this city has the white one, and it just seems kind of obvious. I just think the black one is a little more low-key. Plus, I read a newspaper article a couple of months back where they said that the most obvious thing about the iPods is the white color, and especially the white ear buds - and since they're more obvious, they tend to get stolen more easily. The article said that alot of iPod thieves will look for the trademark white earbuds and do a "bump and grab" when the train doors open. I think the black ones won't be as showy. Thanks again both of you!

Eh, they're optional but it's fun to get one. Kate Spade has a cute leather one for $75 which is slightly insane but I have a Kate Spade one for my ipod mini.
Because I'm a Kate Spade whore.

I got it!!! Well, the earbuds are white, no matter what color iPod you get ( hee!), and actually, it comes with a little carrier, but it covers the window. So I may get another kind of case so that I can work the wheel and see what's playing. As we speak, I've downloaded almost everything I want onto my computer, and it's all transferred onto my iPod, and I'm listening to "Big Mouth Strikes Again" by The Smiths right now! You guys were right, it's incredibly easy - I know I sound like a commercial, but if I can do it, anyone can! This is so cool, I'm really excited - thanks again for the help!
