Yeah, my awesome interview shoes ended up giving me a little blister too -- to be fair, though, I did wear them from 6 a.m. to about 8 p.m., and I was walking around Chicago for a good hour window shopping, too. Plus, I went to cover a story at night and was standing in grass and gravel for an hour. So I don't think they're too bad. A few more wears and they'll be ok. I hope.

So I went to the GAP today to pick up another brown polo shirt after ruining my first one trying to get an ink stain out (sigh), and as I was about to leave, I saw this adorable skirt. I ended up getting it as well as this sweater (which I see comes in petite sizes on the website [the American one, at least] -- boo! The sleeves of the regular-sized one are too long as usual, but oh well, too late now). There is a little greasy stain near the bottom, but they didn't have any others in my size and we figure I can get it out with Shout or some such, so they gave me a damage discount and I got it anyway. Plus it's pretty classy and cute. And then I got this shirt in this colour (more or less). The two salesgirls assured me that they look good together, and one of them had picked out about seven tops for me to try (including that one) so it's not like she was trying to sell me on that particular top -- I hope. I think it looks cute together. But then, of course, I didn't have any shoes to go with all that, and I had already spent over $100 (which is my clothing budget), so I went to Payless and got these (I couldn't link directly) cheapo shoes. I feel ashamed buying cheap shoes but I can't afford nicer ones, so... too bad. I think they look okay with the outfit. They're not too ugly, right? I'm not sure I'm a big fan of the wedge but I think they look fine. And, of course, since I am short, I will have to get the skirt hemmed because it cuts me off at the fattest part of my calves -- not very flattering. I think I will get it just below the knee, like the girl in the picture (where it's SUPPOSED to be). And, obviously, I will have to rescind my statement about not caring how my feet look, because I now have backless shoes. Boo! Better get out the file.

Oh girl, don't be ashamed of those cute Payless shoes. If it wasn't for Payless, Target and Value City, I'd be barefoot. I don't believe in spending anymore than $40 for shoes. Boots, no more than $120, tops. They go out of style so fast, especially sandals, it's no need to give away an arm for a pair of shoes. Plus I'm hard on shoes, so Payless is the way to go. As a matter of fact, I believe Payless is having their buy one, get one...I must go there tomorrow.

I bought the EXACT SAME pair of shoes, for the same-ish reasons (I bought a white lace skirt, plus have two other pale skirts from last summer that looked a bit odd with my usual black slides.) Most of my summer shoes come from Payless - why spend a fortune when I don't wear them often?

I have finally found a pair of cuffed black shorts that are actually short. I am happy!

I love the Gap for dress pants in the summer. I normally buy Ann Taylor Loft, but all of their dress pants are lined - and when it's hot, nothing makes me crankier than the lining of my pants sticking to my legs. And the Gap makes great unlined dress pants for a good price. I just got a new pair of nice basic black ones last night for $48.

I got a pair of Stuart Weitzman heels yesterday at the Nordstrom half yearly sale and now I am having buyer's remorse. They were on sale, plus I used my gift card, but UGH! they were still on the pricy side. I also doubt I will get tons of use out of them, but they're so pretty!

I have a pair of Gap grey dress pants from YEARS ago but they're starting to be a bit too snug so I need to replace them with a bigger size but I can't find the gray ones on the site.
I love that pink cardigan though. I might just have to get me one of them. I love plain and simple cardigans and I can never find them in a good price.
I made the mistake of going to Bath & Body Works at lunch during their gigantic super mega sale that they seem to have about once a month. I'm going to be moving to my new condo in 2 weeks so I figured I needed to spend $50 on soaps, candles and smelly tulip wall scents. Sigh.

Just picked these up from Marshalls on sale for $20 in grey. Plan to wear 'em with jeans tomorrow to work, then shorts. They're well padded and comfy as anything. And they look nicer on feet than you might think from the photo.

I also was lured into the Bath and Body sale...I was intrigued by those wall scent thingies (only $5!) but it was so crowded that I just grabbed some showergels and got out of there. I think the damage was only around $13 bucks. Phew!
