If I wanted to send a album to someone (ie upload it on yousendit or something) how do I first .zip or .rar the file? I am on MAC OS10.4.7 is there a program I use? 'cause I do not want to individually up all the tracks.

Yes, there is. Just go to the folder in question, select all the files you want (or go to the folder above the folder you want to send), right-click the files or folders and select "Create Archive" from the contextual menu. The OS will create an archive called "Archive.zip" in this location. However, OSX cannot create encrypted archives, if that's what you wanted.

I have the dumbest most basic question. I must have downloaded something, because I'm getting random popups now. I've run Ad Aware and looked for stuff that showed up on my computer recently but that hasn't worked. Any ideas?

You could try Spybot, and I think it was Kafka who recommended Ewido a while back. I've got both of them installed.

You could also try Hitman Pro, it will download nearly every available anti-spyware program out there, since not one stops them all.

It catches a ton of things which Ad-Aware doesn't. But I also think that one should have several of these programs and run them all. Then again, I'm a bit paranoid since December 27th when I had to reinstall the O/S and lost everything after a particularly malicious Malware bug took advantage of a hole in Microsoft's system. More than 7 months later, I'm still bitter about it, and now I have about a gazillion programs I run several times a week.

I'm running Windows XP and I really like the "High Contrast Black" appearance theme, however when I try to use it message boxes, like the one I'm typing in now, is solid black with black typing. Obviously I can't read what I'm typing that way but I can't figure out how to change it so that message windows that I type into are able to be seen. Anyone know how this can be done, if it can be done?

I was thinking about getting a used notebook computer off eBay or from a pawn shop and need some advice. What I really wanted it for was to have it as a "commuter computer" which sounds ridiculous, but I am envisioning it as an information port, something I can take to the library or wherever so I can work on my thesis, but use my desktop at home as the "main" computer. I would back up my work on the desktop and my j disks. But even at $300 a used notebook seems expensive and risky, and a touch foolhardy. I don't see the need to buy a wholly new notebook especially since my desktop is only a few years old, and not just because I can't justify the expense (because I can justify almost anything). It seems wasteful, but a new used one will be handy and...someone, please either validate me or talk me out of it. Thanks!
