I have an Acer laptop as well. I love it and it can handle the yooge amount of administrative work I do.

Can anyone suggest a good site for a sale on a digital camera for Cyber Monday? My Canon Power Shot is, well, shot. I've been on Fatwallet, Best Buy and Amazon. Thanks.
ETA: I had to pry my mom from the computer when she suggested I get a new laptop (the Dell Inspiron I'm on now works fine) just b/c of the crazy sales. I told her by the time this one broke down, all of the "brain stuff" in the new laptop would be old so I should only buy new as I need to. She knows nothing about computers so the idea of buying just to buy? She had the serious Black Friday fever.

We bought an Acer laptot (netbook, but "laptot" is cuter) about a year ago, and it's been great. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.

Just say no to Toshiba! I had a lot of problems with mine and it finally crapped out at three years old. I recommend a Sony Vaio- I really like mine.
As for cameras, Bklyn, I spent most of the morning looking for one for a gift for my MIL, and I found that Amazon had the best prices. I bought her a Nikon for under $100.

I agree with both these. Used to have an Acer and it was fantastic, and now I have a Toshiba which has been rubbish (had to be replaced after only a few months of use). Team Acer!

I have an Acer and it's lasted about 5 years, but I've had to replace the power adapter about 4 times. At some point it stops connecting enough to charge. But new adapters are only 15ish dollars, and maybe they've already fixed this problem in newer versions (mine is an Acer 5580).
At work we have a really nice HP laptop. As soon as you get rid of all the unwanted HP software, it runs really well!

Thanks borokat. I ended up choosing a new kindle instead (mine just went dead one day).

I made my living on a Toshiba -- a Satellite -- for four years, and it worked well for me. Now I'm using a Lenovo G550, which I also like fine.

I think my Satellite lasted about four years too. It was bigger and heavier than my Dell Inspiron though, and more likely to break. For whatever reason--probably just time and knowledge--it was more susceptible to viruses too.
