My six-year-old nephew kicked my ass at Lego Star Wars and Mario Kart on the Wii. In my own defense, my parents wouldn't let us have a gaming system when my brother and I were kids. So my gaming skills are far below what they should be. [/rationalization]

My four-year-old daughter listens to Pandora's Disney station on my old iPhone, which she calls her iPhone. Oy.

My boss informed me this morning that I have to learn to use Twitter, because the student who normally handles our office social-media accounts will be out all week (I do know how to use Facebook). I just spent 30 minutes reading the Twitter Help section so I could figure out how to post a damn Tweet without embarrassing myself all over cyberspace.

My brother and sister both demonstrate technical incompetence to varying degrees. My sister is now a facebook whiz and my brother still has trouble figuring out certain things computer related. I use to think it was some sort of deficiency, but now realize it is all attitude. My sister learned to use facebook because people she knows already do. My brother (who is 9 years older then me) usually calls me when technical issues crop up. It's all a matter of attitude. If you want to learn how to do something then you will, if there is not much need, then you will have no desire, and will wind up calling someone like me.
Another thing I think many people don't realize is that the brain is like any other muscle, when it gets exercised, it gets easier to use. I realized this on my last job. One guy always asked for my help because he knew he could. If I was not around, he would have been forced to figure things out for himself.

It is all about attitude. My mom is willing to learn new things, so she has no problem with new technology. Meanwhile I have co-workers the same age as her who hate change and refuse to learn how to do anything new. My dad has always been a technophobe, he can set up things and get the cables in the right place, but he refuses to learn how to use them. He had a VCR for decades pre-Tivo and never learned how to program it.

My father in law won't touch my iPad because he's afraid that he'll break it. He's fine with his own computer, though.

I am seriously considering getting an Xbox kinect with some of my tax money. If any Greecies have the system I would love to hear what you like or dislike about it.

What happens if I uninstall the Microsoft Office Suite from my Dell Windows 7 laptop? Because I despise it-I had to get the computer fixed at Best Buy and it keeps telling me to 'register my product'-you know, the one that I never registered in the first place because Geek Squad did it? Anyways I have Open Office which I prefer but every time I download attachments that stupid Word opens up. Can I uninstall it without destroying the computer?

I am seriously considering getting an Xbox kinect with some of my tax money. If any Greecies have the system I would love to hear what you like or dislike about it. I don't have a kinect but I do have a 360 and I absolutely love it. I have tried out the kinect at a friend's place and it seems pretty cool. What are you going to most use the kinect for? If you are looking strictly at games I would say compared to ps3 and wii, xbox has the best regular selection. The kinect games are pretty cool too but I don't think they have as big a catalog as Wii yet. But I think it is coming. If you are using it as a multimedia center it works pretty well too. I can play dvds or movies or shows on my laptop on my tv through the xbox. The one advantage of the PS3 is that it does have the blu ray whereas the xbox only has a regular dvd player. The only things I don't like about xbox is that you do have to pay for a membership to access a lot of the features on xbox live. It would be the same for the kinect. It is only $50.00 so it is not too bad. Plus I have heard the online gaming is better through xbox versous ps3. The other annoying thing about xbox is that you pay for things with microsoft points which you buy with your credit card. But the points are some weird number which don't match actual dollars so it is easy to lose track of how much things cost on xbox. Of course if you have a 360 already and are just looking to upgrade you probably know all this. The main difference is the motion sensor games. I like the control of kinect games better than wii's games. In terms of the multimedia center I think the only difference between the 360 and kinect is the voice control. Other than that you get pretty much all the same stuff as you would on the 360 I think. When my 360 finally dies I will probably upgrade to the kinect but I also don't feel the need to go out and buy it right now.
