Hmm, I wonder if that happened to a friend of mine. I saw that she had posted a status update, then PMed me the exact same status update, verbatim. This was about a week ago. I thought it was strange that she had done that, but figured it was some weird glitch or maybe she did it on purpose. (It was a poetically-worded request for new music/song suggestions.) How strange.

Snopes is full of shit -- I just checked 2010, and there are plenty of PMs mixed in with the other stuff on my timeline. Nothing incriminating, from what I can see, but still ...

Couldn't find anything on my timeline, but I rarely used the chat feature until this year so maybe that's why. Sucks that FB is pretending that it's user error.

I think that they are afraid that they admit that it's their fault or that they were hacked then their stock will go into a free fall.

Oh, this made me go and look, and yup, some of mind were there, too. Nothing terribly "personal," but still!

Just checked mine and thankfully, nothing is there. I don't use the chat feature, but I do exchange pm's, so I'm wondering if I'm really in the clear or not. Are the messages appearing from instant chat conversations or private messages?

Are the messages appearing from instant chat conversations or private messages? I don't see any messages on mine, but as far as I can tell, at some point the PM feature became the message feature--if I send a message to my sister, and she's online, she'll post right back in the same window, and it's suddenly a chat. I find this to be incredibly annoying.

Thanks, chonies. That is incredibly annoying. I never was that enamored with FB to begin with, but like most, it's a good way to keep up with people. Even so, I find with each new upgrade, I tend to use it less and less. I keep thinking about deleting my account altogether.

My husband said tonight that he is surprised that this is not a bigger story and I am too. Why is no one reporting on this, besides the initial, "Facebook says it is not true." stories?

I get logged out of Facebook three or eight times a day on every browser and platform except the iPhone app. There've been seriously weird things happening on FB over the past week or two.
