Tear. I loved widgets! So many museums had artifact of the day type things that just made my heart go pitter pat.

We were robbed a month ago and the insurance check has come in. I'm thinking of buying a tablet. I do basic stuff on the next but a lot of it involves writing, research. Any opinion on the Microsoft tablet line?

I've heard people find them hard to use as it is not the familiar windows interface.

AVG or McAfee are both fine. You should also download Malwarebytes. I've actually had more of a problem with malware than viruses.

Does anyone know anything about, or have experience with, lynda.com?

I just spent a god awful amount of money on a razor keyboard. I've had an excellent keyboard from 100 years ago that was beautiful. Great clickabity, springiness, response. All the keyboards from the past 10 years have gotten progressively mushier. Writing became not fun. I've ordered a series of older keyboards from ebay, but they have all arrived broken. I haven't had to pay from them, but it's still a pain, I bought three broken ones in the past three months. So I went to Best Buy (again) and finally got a guy "in the know". He took me to the gaming section, and showed me the Black Widow Ultimate, and this thing rocks! So maybe this should be listed under True Confessions, it feels so decadent.

Damnit, my phone just died! Yes, I've had it for 4 years and yes, it was doing weird things that made me think Motorola was screwing with it to make me get an upgrade but I'm so mad that the screen just gave up! It's a Droid and the screen went black and won't do anything. I can see the green notification light blinking and the home keys on the screen light up but I can't see anything. I can hear it working when I swipe to do my unlock keys but nothing comes up on screen.
I have taken out the battery, plugged it in and tried to do a hard restart (but can't see the screen to select the right buttons). I guess I'm not mad, just sad because I don't want a new phone (I'd even downgrade to a "regular" phone if I could take pictures with it) and I don't want to lose the pictures of my daughter that are on there. Because I had turned off the wifi, I don't think it was synched to anything and now I'm most worried that I'll never see them again!

So I just got a brand new computer and am wondering how I can view the gifs that I have saved. It has Windows 8. What program do I open it with? Because they just look like plain old jpegs when I do.
