I've been researching things, I just hate change of any kind. Everything is a slow over process with me. The cable just went up, plus it's about to change to another company so I want to ditch it. The BluRay has wifi, just watched a bunch of Comedians Getting Coffee this weekend, so I'll probably do Hulu or Netflix. Checking into those indoor antenna thingies now, a friend has one and gets about three channels. She lives on the other side of town, we are in the boonies not sure if I can pick anything up. I still have one of those tube TV's and don't have cable at all or any channels as a matter of fact (which I'll touch upon later). Anyway, I have a Sony Blu-ray player that has wifi on it so I'm able to get Netflix and Hulu, I have a subscription to both. To be honest, I went from having cable to living off Netflix and Hulu and I honestly don't feel like I'm missing out on anything (except Walking Dead - it's more of struggle for me to be able to watch current episodes, but I am able to manage and I won't elaborate any further in fear of incriminating myself ) Not sure if you've decided which one to get, Netflix or Hulu though they offer the same services, the actual content is different. If you're into binge-watching a series and don't need to watch a series as it airs, then Netflix is for you. If you want to watch a series in roughly the same time that friends, family or coworkers are watching it, then Hulu is for you (Hulu puts up content a day after it airs on TV). Hulu does have commercials, depending on how popular the show is, you could watch as much as 3 commercials in one break, but there are certain shows where there's only one commercial per commercial break, it really just all depends. CBS doesn't have their shows on Hulu but you are able to go to CBS' site and watch their shows on there. NBC, Fox, ABC all pretty much have their shows on Hulu the day after it airs. When the networks aren't airing any new episodes anymore from May - September, I mainly use Netflix and binge watch on series that I've been meaning to watch, lol. Hope that helps. The reason I came in here was I need TV help similar to pathtaken's issue. My TV doesn't get any channels at all and though I've "survived" for over a year and a half on just Hulu and Netflix, I do miss being able to watch events live like my local news! Sporting events! Award shows! I don't want to have to keep going to other people's homes just to do it, sometimes i just want to be in my PJ's and watch the super bowl on my own couch with a pizza in front of me that I don't have to share with anyone - don't judge. Anyway, does anyone know how I can get basic channels on my old tube tv. Do I buy those indoor antennas? Do I need an analog to digital converter box? Do i need both? Anyone know?

Old cathode ray tube TVs generally don't have digital tuners. Sometime in the last few years, all broadcast stations switched over to digital broadcast signals. This means you will need something with a digital tuner in it (dedicated tuner box or a DVD recorder or vcr with a digital tuner). You might find a dedicated tuner in a thrift store. Lots of people got them for like $10 through a gov program during the broacast conversion period.
The upside of all this external box nonsense is mist channels have multiple feeds in their signal now. Our local PBS affiliate has like 6 streams now.

Ha ha, I was doing a search for "mist channels" thinking it was yet another thing I didn't know about. cabbagekid WHAT! the most popular zombie show ever is not found on either Huluplus or Netflix? My kids are going to kill me cos cable goes bye bye on Monday.

Pathtaken, Netflix has Walking Dead, but they don't get the new episodes until 6 weeks before the new season premieres. It sucks, but you live with it. If you have a friend or family member that has cable, you can try using their cable subscription to log on to AMC to watch any shows that AMC has. All my friends and family have DirecTV which for whatever reason, is not part of the accepted providers that AMC lets you use to view their online content. Dumb in my opinion, but whatever. I don't understand why they can't be like CBS that puts all their shows on their website for free, but it does make you watch commercials so it's a win-win for everyone.

For some reason my Adobe Flash Player is jacked up. When I go to You Tube or try to look at videos or slide shows in news stories I get a "You need to upgrade to the latest version of Flash Player" message. I've tried downloading the file 10 times. Everything seems to go through the installation process just fine, but it doesn't actually change anything. I still get the "you need to upgrade" message. I'm downloading directly from Adobe and it's making me crazy. Anybody know what I'm doing wrong?

Are you running an old OS that flash isn't compatible with anymore? That happened to me when I was still using my 2008 Mac.

Whatever you do, DO NOT CLICK AND DOWNLOAD ANYTHING. I've cleaned my computer with several different systems and I'm still getting it.

I get spam about chrome and Adobe updates constantly. Exit and don't download.

How come My IPad Air doesn't open multiple Internet windows? It's really irritating.

I don't think I've gotten fake Adobe-update spam ads, but in the past, when I've had persistent flashplayer-won't-play problems, I've done a complete uninstall ( another version of the instructions) of flashplayer, rebooted, and then downloaded and re-installed an earlier version. (I *think* the earlier versions would be one of these, but I kinda forget--maybe Google it and look for more specific advice from someone who's done it recently.)
