Here's an article on the best media streamers of 2016 and it shows Google Chromebox being the cheapest streaming device. My roommate has AppleTV, which is more expensive and I don't use it very often, but when I move to my own place, I'm looking to get either the Chromebox or AppleTV. Also, I know a couple of people who have a Roku streamer and they have no complaints. But that too is more expensive. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the suggestions! I might break down and get the Roku streaming stick. I just didn't want to may the $150+ for some of the other options. I'm planning on setting up my tv in my extra bedroom, which is currently full of boxes and the cats' litterboxes, so I have to do a little work before I can get my tv viewing situation set up.

We got our Roku boxes at Target last month, and they were having a pretty good sale, so maybe shop around, prisma. I don't get how it works yet, but I think it's me, not Roku.

I bought a chromecast stick last year so that we could watch netflix on the TV and it works like a hot damn.

My iPad updated itself this evening to the new iOS 10. . . I am not happy. It looks...off; there's a new app called home that I'll never use and can go into my SAIDWACD (stupid apps I don't want and can't delete) folder, and to wake up the unit, instead hitting the home button and swiping right (which now takes you to some page with widget boxes, like Siri's app recommendations--like I give a f*ck) you have to hit the home button twice. Also, it messed up my internet connection to the unit which took two manual reboots to correct.
I am planning to wait as long as possible before updating my 5s phone. I hope it doesn't decide to do it by itself, too.

Mine is sarcastically called Apple Gifts. I read that with this update, you can finally delete the Apple apps you don't need but since I've got them in a folder anyway, this isn't any big deal.
I never use Siri either. I am my own Siri. She never gives me specifically what I'm looking for any faster than I can search for it my own self. Librarian for the win!
I'm going to update to iOS 10 in a little while. TTMR updated last week, and he keeps nagging me about it. The messaging changes seem cool, and I'm sure I'll get used to the end of swiping to log on soon.

Not a fan of the iOS 10 switch to big print in the music library.
I'm sure I'll inevitably acclimate, though.

I still haven't updated the iOS either. I am eligible to upgrade my phone next month though and plan to go from my iPhone 5S to a 6, so I guess I'm gonna have to update then if I don't before.

I just upgraded and am still learning the new functionality. Can someone please explain what the finger swiping/color thingie new functionality in texting is all about? I don't get it. Am I old or is it pointless?
