I'm not sure where to post this, but I'm bursting with pride and want to post it somewhere! Writing is something between hobbie and passion, depending on how much time I can devote to it. Anyhow, a letter to the editor I wrote MS Magazine was published in this issue.

Congrats, Shawna! That's awesome. Are they posted online anywhere?
ETA: I tried to find it, but at their website they only had portions of the magazine available online. I'd love to read your letter, though. Is there a chance you could scan the page if possible?

I've done it, borokat. You won't get rich doing it, but if you love to scrapbook, it's an enjoyable way to make a few bucks. Just know that you'll be making below minimum wage pay.

I taught myself to crochet one night over the summer. I've only finished a hat and 1/2 a scarf so far, but I'm getting ready to make a scarf for my sister that looks really quick and easy.
And, I'm working on a set of embroidered dishtowels with a chicken motif.

Congrats, Shawna! That's awesome. Are they posted online anywhere? ETA: I tried to find it, but at their website they only had portions of the magazine available online. I'd love to read your letter, though. Is there a chance you could scan the page if possible? It was actually something I first posted here in the feminism thread (modified slightly). Which is another reason I posted about it here. I just answered a call from Ms. Magazine to confirm that yes I do want my name printed in the "We had Abortions" area of the fall issue. I have such mixed feelings about the entire thing. Sadness that it needs to be said and that a woman's right to autonomy over her own body is still threatened. Fear that in the America we live in today, with an evangelistic President, of what could happen to me for making such a public admission. Relief that there is something I can do to stand up for my beliefs. And finally pride mixed with amusement that I was asked to do this in my ninth month of pregnancy. With the deluge of stories about more and more clinics being closed and new laws against driving a minor woman over state lines for an abortion -- I had been feeling a rage of hopelessness over the entire issue. I marched on Washington at the March for Women's Lives, I've donated money to the cause (which seems like a never ending money pit) and I've escorted woman through protest lines. But it all seemed so futile. Despite the fact that I resent the need to make public a deeply private decision, I am happy to be able to contribute to what I hope to be innumerable voices who declare that we have chosen to exercise control over our own bodies. (They took out the money pit bit, bastards)

Yup, me too. Good for you, Shawna! I remember when you were talking about that in the Feminism thread. How cool that it's going to be published (despite some editing regarding money pits on their part).
