I made a pot of curried vegetable lentil soup yesterday and I cannot stop eating it!
Today, I made some lemon poppyseed scones to go with mid-morning tea but my husband discovered that they taste good with the soup too.

Lemon poppyseed scones sound so good! As do those marshmallow bars, wow.
I Went wine tasting today and we packed a picnic! Before I went, breakfast was a piece of toast with peanut butter and a glass of milk, then a latte a bit later.
Lunch was a sliced deli chicken sandwich on whole wheat with guacamole-hummus, sharp cheddar, pepperoncinis, and red onion. I also had a semi-chopped salad of butter lettuce, pepperoncinis, red bell pepper, red onion, fresh corn off the cob, and a dressing of balsamic and olive oil. Plus, salt & vinegar pop chips, some green grapes, one mozzarella ball, and for dessert, some blackberry pie, homemade Oreos and Nutella pop tart (few bites of each). I bought all the sweets from my friend's bakery and we split them between a bunch of us. So good. Oh, and a ton of tastes of wine and sparkling wine! And a few chocolate disks with a dessert wine.
Oh and I also had a tiny sliver sample of some chocolate goat's milk fudge at the Farmers Market.
Only starting to get hungry now. Thinking a baked potato and some chicken and broccoli.

Last night's dinner was portobello mushroom caps stuffed with a fairly healthy version of spinach artichoke dip. It was so tasty! I'd been craving the dip, but wanted a healthy way of eating it. For the dip, I used sour cream, parmesan, and one of the flavored cream cheeses. It definitely added a nice depth to the flavor. Definitely a repeat!

I made a simple chicken salad for lunch. Shredded roast chicken, halved heirloom plum tomatoes, basil, veganaise and lots of black pepper.

Today was; Breakfast (post run) a smoothie with fresh peaches and blackberries, more peaches and berries with yogurt and honey, and a banana.
Lunch: A ham sandwhich--which I made on whole wheat bread with spinach, swiss cheese, brown grainy mustard, and mango chutney (nice bit of sweetness and heat). Another fruit salad (peach, cherries, cantaloupe, berries, pineapple, and blueberries). With uhm, ice cream for dessert (and a fudgy/peanut butter sauce on top. I'm claiming "extra protein" from the peanut butter).
Snack: Another piece of fruit and some olives.
Dinner: I haven't gotten that far yet. But there will be tomatoes at some point soon.

Weekends at Casa de Pearly means Southern-style breakfasts. Sausage w/ gravy, eggs, and biscuits topped with Grandma's homemade cherry-rhubarb jam. Now I'm sipping a huge mug of coffee with cream and raw sugar, trying to decide which chore I'm going to put off first.

We had a gamewatch for the start of college football season, so I had a ton of snack food for lunch, including 4 different kinds of cheese, salami, guacamole, salsa, and black bean dip. And wine.
Dinner was half of a giant burger with provolone, sautéed onions, scallions, black bean and corn salsa, and spicy sour cream. And a side of the world's most delicious (and evil) deep fries slices of dill pickle.
Dessert is going to be an antacid. :-)

I woke up with a craving for biscuits this morning, and thanks to my small-batch baking cookbook, I was able to make just enough to feed the craving without having a ton left over. Yay! The boyfriend and I are celebrating 10 years together, so we're going out to eat tonight at a place called Broadway that does really good ribs. They actually taste "American", as does their cole slaw. We used to smoke and grill our own ribs, so we appreciate finding decent ones here. Plus, considering we met in NY and lived on the corner of 11th and Broadway, it seems an appropriate place to celebrate. Of course, being Dutch, it happens to be on one of the canals, so you can sit outside right next to the canal, or sit inside in the sort of curved roof/cave interior. I'm hoping the rain will have gone by this evening so we can sit outside.
