Thanks! We did end up sitting outside at a table against the wall, rather than next to the canal, but it hardly matters since it's still a great view! As it turns out, the little table in the step/depression that you can see in the photo was the source of a bit of drama. One of the chairs there got bumped and knocked into the canal (because the little wooden ledge isn't there anymore). Fortunately, no one was sitting in it at the moment and the waitress was able to fish it out.
So the food. The small biscuit and egg that I made for breakfast got me through the day until we went to an outdoor café and had a Leffe blond beer and split some bitterballen (a deep fried ball of basically mashed potatoes and shredded meat). A delicious start! Then we went to the restaurant for ribs, fries and coleslaw. It was just as good as I remembered, and just as big a portion! We ended up with three decent-sized racks each of ribs. In fact, we only ate two each and brought the last ones home, so that will be dinner tonight, probably with a watermelon and goat cheese salad.

I have a chicken marinating in the refrigerator. I butterflied it last night, my first time doing that, then I added my marinade which is yogurt, grated garlic and ginger, ground coriander, curry powder, cinnamon, garam masala, and cardamom. I am going to roast potatoes in the pan with the chicken so they get all basted in curry chicken goodness. I hope that butterflying the chicken means it will cook faster, that's what everybody says will happen.
Edited because you don't marinate in the oven you bake/roast in it.

Husband made chili last night but I'm a wuss so I had a small bowl of it and roasted up some cauliflower. It was delicious! Can't wait for leftovers tonight.

50th birthday party for my aunt: Short ribs, candied sweets, mac & cheese, crowder peas, cornbread, okra, ice cream and cake. Enough calories for 2 days. At least. Jeezy Creezy, I'm going to have to eat nothing but celery and water for the next two days.

Yesterday I took the boyfriend to my favorite Mexican place here in Seattle. We split the enchilada (with red chile served with a fried egg. Yum!) and the entomatada (with green chile and the tenderest grilled beef). They have a salsa bar with six types of salsas, five red and one green. My boyfriend wanted the hottest one. Okey dokey! He loved it so much his entire face was covered with sweat after a few bites.
Today we went to a place that serves Malaysian food. After having gone through all the satays they have I finally got to try their laksa. It was so good. The broth was warm and spicy, the noodles had just the right amount of chew. So tasty! We then walked down the block to get some ice cream. I had maple walnut ice cream topped with whipped maple syrup and bourbon toffee flakes.
I love food!

Babycakes, that all sounds so delicious! But then, so does thanksgiving dinner. I guess I'm craving comfort food. I woke up hungry, so I'm having my lunch for breakfast: brown beans, spinach and chopped tomatoes all cooked down with some sriracha mixed in for a kick. I made a big pot yesterday to each for lunch for the next few days. It's tasty stuff, even cold! Dinner last night was a new recipe I've been playing around with. Pork chops sliced into strips, marinated in a mix of fish sauce, ketjap manis, garlic sauce, sweet Thai chili sauce, olive oil, and some lemongrass powder. I served it with some haricot vert and the tiny bit of rice I had left cooked with a splash of soy sauce.
