We came back to pretty ok crockpot lasagna and the mini cheesecakes I made the day before. I’m making thanksgiving food for dinner, so the planet will be back in harmony. Crockpot lasagna? I'm intrigued.

What kind of pies, Ripley? Dutch apple and Autumn Harvest. The Autumn Harvest pie is a layer of pecan pie filling with a layer of pumpkin silk and a whoooole lot of whipped cream on top. It is the only pie with pumpkin that I can stand eating. Both pies came from the bakery that makes Lobster Pot Pie (I mentioned it in the Pie thread).

We were supposed to do our delayed Thanksgiving yesterday, but for various reasons, I was not in the mood. So we're doing it today. Yesterday we just ordered in pizza, but that's a pretty nice meal when you actually live in Italy. The fiancé's mother (who lives next door) brought over a home-made apple tart. I was too full from the pizza, but I had a slice this morning with my coffee. I also have leftover pizza for lunch. Today I have to finish the cornbread dressing, make the mashed potatoes, cook the (massive) turkey breast and leg that we ordered from the butcher, finish the gravy, and make the green beans (with sauteéd onions). Oh, and devil some eggs. And clean the kitchen and dining room. I guess I'd better get moving!

I ate nearly double my caloric intake on Thanksgiving. Eep! This week will be salads and soups, I think. Today: cream of mushroom soup with recipe from my bible, Joy of Cooking.

All this holiday eating ...I'm enivious! I once read something by a Brit that explained Thanksgiving as a harvest festival at which you celebrate by eating the entire harvest at one sitting. Back at work after the long weekend so of course I have a Leftover Sandwich - turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce.
