As long as Topher Grace is in it, I'll keep watching.

I can’t help seeing a parallel between this show and Friends in the dying years. The characters in both just started to get more and more quirky as time went on. Like the writers just decided to take aspects of a character’s personality that used to be fun little details, amplify them, and make everyone into a caricature. I am getting so sick of Eric making Jedi comments on every damn episode! Fez being the horny foreigner! Red using the phrase “foot up your ass” every five seconds! Jackie likes to shop! Kitty likes to drink! Kelso is a blithering idiot! It’s like they think that if they make the personality quirks bigger it will fill in the holes and make the show worth watching.
Pssst! Hey – 70’s show writers! Here’s a tip.....it doesn't.

YAY! Someone responds to this thread.
Prickle--I agree w/ you. Except on the Jedi comments from Eric. They make me laugh everytime. I don't know if it's because Topher is a real life Star Wars fan, but it brings the funny.
I am sick of Fez not only being horny but one step away from being handed a restraining order. That is not funny. Same with dumb Kelso. Also what happened to the Donna that wanted to get out of "that dinky town", go to college back east, and be a writer?
But I do have a spoiler--I hope I can do that color thing--Angie will be leaving soon. Thank god. She offered nothing to the show.
The earlier episodes were the best. When the show had actually had a vision and before it catered to the Tiger Beat audience.
It suffers from the Happy Days syndrome.

You know, now that you mention it -- I totally take back the Jedi thing. It is hilarious.
And I agree about Fez. I mean, back a couple seasons he was still horny, but it was kind of cute and funny/desperate. Not creepy/leering/potential rapist type stuff. Fez is scary now. And annoying. It's killed what love I once had for Wilmer. I can't believe he used to be my favorite on the show!
And even though I'd have no point in watching without him, what is Topher even doing on the show anymore? He's just so beyond this crappy sitcom.
Are Jackie and Hyde back together? I've sort of slacked off on watching lately so I'm not really clear on what's going on with them. Oh, and Kelso with a baby? Yeah, that ain't right. I don't care if he gets little paternal warm fuzzies when he holds her. He's an idiot who cannot possibly be responsible for another human being.
I hate what they're doing to Kitty, too. I love her. But even she's getting annoying. Too high strung.

Prickle-When I first joined FT I was surprised at how many people disliked Wilmer. I realize he isn't the best actor out there and probably will wind up on game shows and cutting ribbons and grand openings of Piggly Wiggly's, but when you keep dating 'barely legal' chickies it kind of makes you wonder. I totally hate how they are writing Fez.
Topher nor Ashton renewed their contracts for season eight. They probably won't be guest starring either.
When I sit and watch an old season 1 or 2 episode, I am reminded what made the show so good, and the sap in me still wants Eric and Donna to have a happy ending.
There have been some good episodes and mostly all the time it has to do with Topher's performance.
Yeah, the Zen couple (yuck) got back together. Ho hum. Who cares?
and the liquor references every single episode are annoying too. The way the writers write it, you'd think Kitty was in a constant daze.
The show forgot its roots, went for the younger audience, and the show suffered.

I didn't start watching the show until it was in syndication. I agree about the quality of the show going down. If Eric and Kelso leave will the kids still hang out in the basement without them? And how pathetic will it be that they do? Is this what they are trying to set up with Hyde still living with the Foremans? I really loved Kitty in the first seasons, now, I hate the way they make her such a lush. Oh, and I really miss Eric's sister, the original version.

I watched That 70s Show a couple years ago and really liked it, but then I just stopped watching. I caught an episode tonight for the first time in forever and wow, what a difference. It barely seemed like the same show. It just didn't have the same That 70's Show feeling. And Big Red was blonde. WTF?

Haw haw! Now it's just a clam-driven shitfest. In fact, it's now That '70s Shit. Hurray!

Monster Zero--Thanks for the giggle. It's sad but true.
oh and Laura Prepon is a blonde because of her work in the upcoming movie Deadly where she plays real life killer Karla Homolka.
