That episode of CSI: Miami in which Khandi Alexander's character must boil the skin off the skull of a victim she's doing an autopsy on is disgusting. I've been described as having a cast iron stomach, and can handle a lot when it comes to movie/t.v./real life violence, but the shot of her holding the skull above a pot of boiling water with the salad-tong thingees? I practically lost my lunch. My GOD. Too much.

Speaking of CSI, there was one ep where Jorja Fox's character was investigating the case of an ape who had been skinned alive and dropped from an airplane.

Oh. JEEEZ-US . Cruelty to humans is bad enough. Cruelty to animals I cannot bear in any form. I'm not reading this thread again, too darn disturbing!

Which reminds me of scene from MAD TV. It was a fake TV ad for Xmas lights that never burn out – they are made of glowing-green plutonium. They cut to the same family the next year sitting around the tree, all with burns, blisters and lesions and clumps of hair falling out. A little girl near the tree pours this thick, gooey, steaming glop out of a box, and grandma says, “Oh Honey! That must be your kitten!”

Carnivale. The endings of both "Babylon" and "Pick a Number" I still shudder.

And the ending of whatever episode had Brother Justin peeling off his own face skin to reveal Ben's head underneath, all bloody and yelling. Gah.

Geez, this thread. I've been reliving my Most Disturbing TV Moments Ever in my nightmares for two or three days now.
One of my worst ever, which I just saw in reruns earlier tonight, is from that installment of NYPD Blue in which Jill Kirkendall has to pretend to be a junkie whore in order to ensnare a suspected serial killer who gets off on watching, then murdering, female addicts prostituting themselves to support their habits. Especially the part with said killer describing the "erotic" value of a woman who is abusing heroin. Ew. Just...EW. My skin is crawling as I type this.

I was so squicked out by this thread that I forgot to post MY all-time number one most disturbing TV moment, and it was a true story. I think it was on Oprah a few years ago, the topic was "People Whose Loved Ones Are Missing". There was a parent on the panel whose child had just completely disappeared off the face of the earth. If that wasn't enough of a horror - get this - someone found a photograph lying on the ground of a parking lot, a photo of the missing child (and I think another one), tied up, in the back of a van. The parent made a Silence-of-the-Lambs kind of appeal to the kidnapper, pleading that he take care of the missing kid, that obviously the kidnapper cared for the kid....etc. and then they showed a phone number to call if anyone had any information. Such horror, revulsion, and grief ran through me, I'm haunted to this day and wonder if they ever found the missing child.....

I forgot about Babylon. I was upset and depressed for 2 days after that. It haunts me to this day.

I didn't see that Oprah episode, but I have seen that photo on the Internet. I thought maybe it was a hoax--I guess not. How incredibly awful.
