GirlyGhoul, if the finale doesn't end this way, I'll now be disappointed.

Did anyone watch HIMYM tonight? Ted/Bob talked in the past tense when referring to the mom. I really think she is dead.
I really did like her stand alone tonight. The backstory with Max was very sad, but she nailed it. Cristin Milioti (sp?) is great.
She is also way too good for that douche Ted.

He talked in past tense because he was referring to things that happened in the past. I'll be so ticked if she's dead. Unpopular opinion - I still love this show and will be sad when it's over.

But it was the way he said it: Instead of "I have heard your mother sing "La Vie En Rose" a hundred times." (she's alive) He said: "I heard your mother sing "La Vie En Rose" a hundred times and that night was still my favorite." (Why is that past tense? Isn't she still singing?) It just really stood out to me.

" I admit it had a very melancholy tone to it. She's not dead, darn it! Lalalala (fingers in ears)

I don't want her to be dead either, I like her more than Ted!

CBS has commissioned a spinoff based on the mom and what she was doing until she met Ted. I suppose it is possible they could still do a show where the lead character eventually dies leaving her two teenage children motherless. But that seems awfully dark for a comedy.
I think this show has been going downhill for years but this season has been a little better mainly because of the mom. And unpopular opinion, I like Ted, I want him to have a happy ending.

The new version is supposed to be a completely different set of characters, so while it's "How I Met Your Father," the father wouldn't be Ted.
