And I thought of another one. I loved X-Files as a teen/college kid. But these days I'm way more excited for The Fall to return than X-Files. (It got too weird/personal between Mulder and Scully. And I think as a young person I was enthralled to get to see a smart, professional woman on screen like that. It was more rare in the '90s. But I can watch her do that on fresher shows these days.)
Also, I got to sit in on a public talk with Gillian Anderson last year. She is a weird, awkward, not verbally eloquent lady in front of crowds. It was kind of endearing and awesome, hah. If I had to do those things I would probably be a mess.

That's how I felt about The Sopranos. It was good, but I just didn't give a damn about any of the characters. Except Adriana...

Add me to that list. After it ended, I tried watching The Sopranos from the beginning and I just didn't care at all.

I hated Transparent, and think Shonda Rhimes is overrated.
There, I said it.

The only Shonda Rhimes show I've watched is Scandal. I stopped watching when it became abundantly clear that Olivia was no longer a strong, black female. It got to the point where Olivia, who was once a very capable person everyone turned to in their time of need, became a pawn in her father's wicked games and needed her white male saviors to rescue her. She was constantly a damsel in distress, using her connections with powerful men as a solution to the problems those very men created in the first place. For someone who is supposed to be a feminist, Shonda Rhimes ended up writing and producing what became one of the most cliched sexist shows on television.

I agree with you, highondegrassi, but I'm still watching. I'm hoping now that Olitz is over maybe Olivia will get her groove back, but she'll probably just hook up with Jake again. Shonda's shows start out really good, but they soon become ridiculous, plot wise. Ghost Denny, B613, everything on HTGAWM.
My UO is that I don't get the Dr. Who love. I couldn't get through one episode. I admit that I'm a grump about it because so many of my friends and coworkers are obsessed with this show and I'm just sick of hearing about it. And seeing that stupid little phone booth and robot thing all over our workspace (yes I know what they are really called but I'm a grump). It's one of those shows where the fandom has ruined any chance I'll like it.

Since Dr. Who changes up the lead actors it might depend on where you land as far as who is playing The Doctor and who his companions are. If I tried watching the last few seasons I wouldn't be into it either. The underlying storylines don't grab me, but since I generally like scifi, I'll watch individual episodes if they interest me and skip the ones that don't.

I've liked every actor who plays the Dr. less than the one before, since the reboot. And I dislike a lot of the companions, too.
If I were going to introduce someone to Dr. Who I would recommend that they watch a two parter from the first season of the new series, the award winning The Empty Child and The Doctor Dances. I think this is when Captain Jack get introduced. And if someone watched these, or watched as much as they could stand to decide they still didn't like Dr. Who of course that's fine. But I wouldn't like it either if I'd started with Clara as a companion or Peter Capaldi as the Dr (all of this season). Although I did like the Christmas episode, but I really like River Song, although I know she's a very divisive character.
So, Ladyboy, we could talk about how awful Clara is, or how terrible it is that they wasted Peter Capaldi, who is a good actor.

I gave up on Doctor who because of Clara, I hated her that much. Now that she's gone I may give it another shot.
