I have zero interest in Dr. Who at all. Regardless of the cast. I also have zero interest in Game of Thrones. This lack of interest has seriously effected my nerd cred in one group of friends, particularly Game of Thrones. Fantasy just isn't my bag. Particularly fantasy shows with so much gratuitous female nudity and violence, and an occasionally incredibly obnoxious fan base. And a creator whose appearance makes my skin crawl.

I have zero interest in Outlander, Sherlock Holmes and Game of Thrones. Also Hunger Games, which I mix up with Game of Thrones. A good friendship is seriously declining because she is all Outlander all the time. I gave it a shot, but I just couldn't get on board. She isn't wrong, but she seems unable to talk of anything else. We both used to love Bollywood and I still do, but I guess she's moved on. I miss her.

Hmm...sounds like my sisters. They are very into GoT and Outlander (and maybe Sherlock, not sure), and that's great but I don't watch them, and I've tried. My impression of Outlander was "wow, that's a lot of wool, and I've never realized I could feel my legs go numb in such agonizing slowness before." The only thing we both really watch are less artistic shows like Hoarders and My 600 Lb Life. Mr Cho really hates both of these, but I watch and live chat with one of my sisters because it's a thing to share.
Oh well.

I enjoy Sherlock, but it's only OK to me. Nothing more. And in my opinion, the new Dr. Who isn't that great. Long live the classic episodes, though! I'm talking the Tom Baker years. I also think that it helped that I was about twelve when I started watching them...

My peoples. I've never liked anything Sherlock Holmes-related - I've tried. Dr. Who was always that weird show with bad production values on PBS and I'll never get over that. I have zero interest in GoT or Outlander but a friend of mine who is obsessed with Outlander literally sent me the DVDs from Amazon so I will be forced to watch it. I don't know why she did it, I guess because she has nobody else to talk about it with (she's married with three kids).
Chonies - I LOVE My 600-Lb Life, unhesitatingly.

Yay! Shameless high-five!
For me, Dr. Who is bad production values + campy technoish song ca. 1989. I like the idea of it, I happily watched the movie on the tv but other than that I can't do it.

I tried to get into Dr. Who, and I will watch the show, but I'm not that into it, either. They are way too guilty of the sci-fi cop out where they set the stakes at an impossible level and then solve it with some tech mumbo jumbo that doesn't mean anything. Oh, so you saved the day by discombobulating the cylon-55 mechanism and inversing the dot matrix? Great. Why didn't I think of that?
And I have always hated the BBC Sherlock series. I stopped midway through the second season, but I can't stand that show. I thought the set up was way too smug for something so simple, and at least one episode in the first season was culturally insensitive. Also, the dude who plays Watson is a pretty awful person.

I bought the first season of Sherlock to watch it and now I regret it. It just comes off as very smug

Totally agree about the smugness. I couldn't possibly appreciate it as much as the creators do--they are SUPER impressed with themselves to the point where it's off putting.
