My problem with Sherlock is that he's portrayed as the exact opposite to the original character. A man with such a detailed and instinctive knowledge of human psychology that he can instantly read a person's emotional state and deduce the psychological reasons for their behaviour is turned into a man so obtuse he's genuinely baffled that a woman would be sad over the death of her child even though it happened "ages ago." I dislike the whole "autistic Sherlock" thing in general, but to extend it to "autistic" = "total ignorance of the fact humans sometimes have things called feelings" invalidates the whole point. And now Moffat's made the Doctor into an "autistic genius" who has zero ability to comprehend emotion too. This is why I like "Elementary" more than "Sherlock". Holmes shows actual emotion and growth there.

I agree. I love JLM's portrayal of Sherlock. It's far more nuanced, plus his facial expressions are fantastic.

I can't believe I'm about the post this. It feels like sacrilege.
Law & Order (Original Flavor)...is not a good series. Sure, it had its moments, usually when the Adam Schiff character would shred some criminal with a three second line, but at its worst, (and this was during the classic seasons) it promoted every stereotype in the book about every person anywhere, as well as the most damaging myths about both the legal system and its participants/victims. Those damn 'ripped from the headlines' episodes were usually the worst offenders.
Looking back, I can't believe I ever tolerated it. It's the kind of thing I would cringe and surf away from at this age.

I've always wondered why those shows were popular. They are truly terrible.

I think Jensen Ackles of Supernatural is a terrible actor who has two facial expressions and gives the same performance in everything I've seen him in. I think that Dean Winchester is a terrible character and I wish they'd killed him off in S1 and had Sam and Daddy Winchester as the lead roles.

Essays will be written about how you are wrong! Lol! They are some intense people! I liked his Eric Brady on DOOL. He was a good crier. ETA: I'm still cackling to myself at how outraged SPN super fans would be to see this; it's top 3 unpopular opinions! High five to you laira!

Thanks! Mrs. OMB.
Oh yes, the Single Manly Tear sliding down his cheek. It wouldn't bug me so much if the Deannuts wouldn't constantly go on and on about how Dean is The Greatest Actor Of All Time and How He Is Robbed of An Emmy Every Year and how He's Wasting His Vast Talents.
Yeah right. He's made millions doing the Stare n' Growl and/or The Cocky Smirk. The man has been rewarded far, far beyond his talents. To his credit, Jensen seems to know this.

I like JLM's portrayal of Holmes much better than Bandysnatch Cumberband's version. Although, I do like Martin Freeman's Watson. Is it too much to hope for a Miller/Freeman duo?

I think he's exactly as good of an actor as he needs to be to play Dean Winchester- but I've never seen the AMAZBALLS talent that the Dean!Nuts are always attributing to him. To hear them talk, he's being held back on SPN and should by all rights be winning Emmys and Oscars and getting all the best roles Hollywood has to offer. I've never seen it. Even at the absolute best of Dean Winchester, all I've ever seen is 'Damn good for a CW show'. And that ain't saying much.
