I am a huge fan, so I bought the entire series collection. The box is obscenely cool in its design, even if it seems destined to cause the discs to scratch. There is a whole 'nother disc of bonuses, but it's not necessarily worth shelling a couple hundred for. (Since I didn't have S5, I justified the purchase). Try to see if you can rent it, though. Some of it is supercute.
I don't want to spoil you too much, but I really, really enjoyed the addition of Rachel and Balthazar to the cast.
There are a ton of hidden Easter Egg bonuses on the last disc. The featurette on the music is also really good, because Giacchino is totally brilliant. The extras also made me all sentimental -- I know every show acts like the cast and crew is a big happy family, but it is evident based on the extras that everyone is filled with genuine love and affection for each other. It must've been one of the happiest sets in showbiz, rumors to the contrary be damned.
I know a lot of people complained that the series got worse as it went along, but somewhere along the way, I learned to just surrender to the crazy plot turns and enjoy the ride. (Also, I have a lot of time on my hands, but not nearly enough to devote my life to a "ship" ) I wrote a paper arguing that Sydney was the true successor to Bond (and Emma Peel), so if you approach it as just a great Bond film, it's much more entertaining. A Bond film with really good acting, where half the cast is of Judi Dench's caliber.
The blooper reel is always a great extra. Oh, Victor Garber, you are SO SERIOUS until you crack the hell up.
