Eddie Murphy is hosting this season. This made me irrationally happy for some reason. I don't think he hosted after he left, but if he did, it probably was more than 30 years ago. I wonder will he revive some of his classic skits like Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood, Velvet Jones, or White Like Me. I'm Gumby, Dammit!

I'm really going to miss Leslie. She's not great at impressions, but she's just funny. It's not like I want Kate McKinnon gone or anything, but she's SO incredibly overrated. She's reverted back to some old, bad habits (making bug eyes to drive a punch line home). I'm sick of her getting so much glory when I really enjoy so many of the other women more (Cecily Strong, Aidy Bryant, Heidi Gardner, and Vanessa Bayer when she was still on the show) and they get so much less credit. I'll miss Leslie too. I think she really improved last season from flubbing lines like she had previously, and she was in a lot of great sketches like the Weezer sketch with Matt Damon and House Hunters with Liev Schreiber. I think I will really enjoy her on Supermarket Sweep though. I've missed that show so much, and I think she'll have good energy as the host. I also feel the same way about Kate McKinnon. I like her, but I feel that they use her way too much, and a lot of her impressions are starting to blend together for me. Like it seemed that they relied on her and Alec Baldwin too much for the cold openings last year, and he became less and less funny, and they'd just put old age makeup on her and have her impersonate some conservative male idiot. At first it was funny like her Jeff Sessions, but just like SNL, they kept going back to the well way too much. (Still can't believe Robert De Niro got nominated for an Emmy for his awful Robert Mueller impression.)

I've never liked her Hillary Clinton impression that much - I much preferred Amy Poehler's, although neither one is all that much like the real Hillary.

I would pay good money to see that if it were a real movie.

Seriously—it doesn’t even need to have a plot.

I was curious who wrote the sketch so I looked it up. According to this, the concept was David Harbor's. I like David Harbor and hope he has success post-Stranger Things. He was on Marc Maron's podcast about a year ago and he talked very openly about his experience with addiction and bipolar disease. His description of living with bipolar, going off meds, and having a breakdown was really powerful.

Anybody else think three weeks into the new season is a little early to be rerunning the first show of the new season?
I mean, I loves me some Woody Harrelson, and it was an especially strong season opener, but it was literally only three weeks ago! C'mon, Lorne!
