I think ER has done a really good job with wrapping things up as the final season gets going; I'm not sure I'm going to miss Abby but it was nicely done farewell. If Abby had always been the smartass, funny, and dare I say cheerful person we saw last episode, I'd miss her a lot more. I did think her goodbye to Neela was touching.
I'm going to miss this show; I feel like I've been watching it my whole life (which is nearly true).

I'm gonna miss Abby, she had the best one-liners and was so entertaining to watch. I'm so glad her and Luka actually got a happy send-off and I'm really happy they went to Boston. I bet they wrote it that way because Maura Tierney's from Boston herself. That wall of old doctor's name tags was pretty cool. I love that they had Dr. Dave's on there, I'm still annoyed that they wrote him off so quickly. I hated that too Especially since in the years after he was gone they brought in several characters who seemed like little Dr. Daves but less charming. Yes, he was very stupid sometimes but I felt there was so much more they could have done with that character and a lot more stories that should have been told ER is not on at the moment here in Germany and we're a season or so behind (not watching regularly anymore tbh). Is the final season already near its end?

No, it's still only the the third episode of the season. Maura Tierney and Goran Visnjic just didn't want to stick around for the whole year.

Which one was Dr. Dave, and what happened to him? My guess is it's the Jeremy Sisto look-a-like?

Dr. Dave was played by Erik Palladino, the official reason he got fired was for having sex with paramedic in an ambulance but really it was because him and Chen made a mistake that led to a patient's death. But said mistake would not have been made if Weaver hadn't forgotten to bring her pager with her while she was on call, they paged her but she never responded.

There was some tragic reason why she had forgotten her pager, wasn't there? I was never sure if we were supposed to feel for her then. I hated her Thanks for the info on the episodes

If I recall correctly, she dropped it in the bathroom of the diner and didn't know she'd lost it. I think that was about when she was coming to terms with her sexuality so she was extra-angsty. Dr. Dave called her a Nazi xxxx on his way out which was kinda awesome.

Ah, yes. I remember all that now. Dr. Weaver was just coming out, so I think it was a mistake on her part that led to the mistake on their part.
And since I'm asking away: how did they write out Dr. Weaver? I think they mentioned this season she was in Florida, but what happened to get her there? I looked this up in Wikipedia, but it doesn't have a storyline like some other shows there do.

When Luka fired her as chief of staff due to budget restrictions, she accepted a job as health talk show host in Miami and moved their with her song and girlfriend.
