She already remembered and forgave him. Cause true love. The issue was addressed back in the late 80s or early 90s when Luke and Laura's kids became aware of the rape. I remember it being handled maturely, but I was a teenager back then, so what did I know from mature? The scenes are on You Tube somewhere. I wish I had time to watch them. I really miss the old pre-mob GH. I faithfully DVR the show to play my little part in keeping it from being cancelled, but at this point I just read the descriptions of the episodes and almost always pass on bothering to watch. Everything seems very mob-centric just based on the synopses. Am I wrong? Someone please tell me when General Hospital starts being about the hospital again. That storyline was in 1998, so GH was already mob-centric, but point taken that it wasn't AS mob-centric as it is today. It's crazy, but as good a writer as Claire Labine was, and for all the great stories she wrote (Monica's cancer, BJ's heart, Robin/Stone/HIV) she also is responsible for Sonny, aka the Tiny Mobster Who Ate Port Charles. They revisited Laura's rape as part of the fall out from Elizabeth's rape in the late nineties. Amazingly, they did a fantastic job. Tony Geary, Jonathan Jackson, Genie Francis and Becky Herbst all knocked out right of the park. That's actually why Lucky was living above Jason's garage when he "died." Someone has edited all the scenes from that storyline together, starting from Elizabeth walking into the park, and I ended up watching them a year so again while I recovered from dental surgery. They've held up amazingly well. Luke has a scene with Elizabeth right after she's been raped, and Tony Geary is so good in it it makes you remember why he became a legend (it starts out he comes home to find Elizabeth wrapped up in a robe, and at first he's super amused and you can tell he's thinking that Lucky scored. But then he realizes something is not right with her and he's concerned, but then he slowly realizes what happened with her, and all with his face you see him age about a decade and he looks like demons from hell are there to destroy his life). Ahem. I was very into GH in 1990s. I've finally broken my own habit, but I did youtube various clips of Luke's last story. The fact his last scenes were with Sonny is pretty representative of why I stopped watching. |

In other news, they fired the headwriter last week and got some new blood in (as in not new; the soap writers is a small, incestuous bunch) so I'm expecting some stories to be dropped and characters to get written out. Just saw that the new head writer was supposed to start this week. But when will that transition actually be reflected on the show? Is there a noticeable difference yet? |

The new stuff probably won't be on the air until well into September. No noticeable differences yet.

That makes sense. It will take a while to wash away the muck. Maybe they can make little Jake turn out not to be Jake after all, but a cruel hoax. The storyline where Jake wasn't actually killed is one of the worst ever.

Maurice Bernard seems to be really happy with the changes so this tells me all I need to know about watching again. General Mobspital is back y'all!

The show still is dreck. The scenes the other day where Sonny and Carly, of all people, berated Jordan for not being a good and present parent to TJ were astounding in their hypocrisy.

God they need to kill Sonny off. I loved him back in the 90s but that Sonny died a long time ago. I can't even believe they are doing CarSon. Those two have 0 chemistry and are a blackhole of suck.

I was a devoted GH fan in the 90s. I started watching during the Karen/Jagger/Brenda drama. Hell, I even loved Sonny back then. I stopped watching when Carly/Sonny/Jason/Courtney just ate the whole damn show.
I've recently started watching again only because my friend was cast as the new Dillon Quartermaine. I'm watching to support my friend Robert, but this show is such a mess and a shadow of its former self. Laura Wright's version of Carly is a shrieking harpy and unwatchable, and CarSon redux is awful. I don't know if Claire Labine is still in the business but I'd love to have her back because her writing and balance of characters and storylines was awesome!
