"You shot Dad in the ass, are you happy now?" Pretty funny episode, excluding Moody Merideth of course.

Meredith definitely dragged it down. But between George hunting, Christina searching for booze ("You're a bartender and you didn't bring booze?") and the surgical-like instructions for cooking Thanksgiving dinner, I was laughing so hard I hardly noticed Meredith.

I agree - very funny episode - esp everything with George and his family. What is it with Cristina though - she's so cold! I love Burke - I want her to be better to him. (um, it's just a tv show...woops. but I am hooked)

I don't think she's really cold. I think she feels emotions, she just doesn't know how to show them. She's very uncomfortable with emotion period. In her character, I kind of like it. It makes for some funny moments, and on the rare occasion that she really shows the emotion, it makes it very real. To me, it contributes to just how every different all these characters are. (and kind of ties into Izzys' explanation of why she cared so much about Thansgiving in last night's episode) They are all very very different people in personality and in background. THey only thing they REALLY have in common is their jobs. But because they have to spend so much time together in such an intense environment, it makes them very very close.

That's a smart and insightful way of looking at it. I guess I just wish she wouldn't take Burke for granted and that she would ask him questions and put herself out there too. But she's trying.
All the characters are very different, you're right.

I don't think she takes Burke for granted. To me, their relationship is pretty standard for something which has developed as they have. He came after her first. She's got a pretty healthy ego, so she was probably somewhat attracted just because he was attracted to her. He knew what he was getting into, and kept on coming after her. I see them going in one of two directions - either they continue to realize (like at dinner 2 weeks ago) that they have nothing in common except for sex and where they work, or he continues to be the good guy who is so blown away by her he'll put up with a lot, and eventually she's going to have an emotional breakdown which will make them closer.

What about Izzy - what do you think will happen with her love life?

I think she's going to continue on the the roller coaster with "I failed the board" boy for a while. For some unkown reason, she seems to see something worth wanting in him so much she's willing to be taken for granted. For whatever reason, I'm pretty neutral to those two as a couple. I don't mind them together, but I'm not pulling for them either.

I know what you mean - I don't feel anything about their chemistry - it doesn't attach me to them. But - I like Izzy a lot - she's an interesting character to me.

I agree. She doens't fit any of the stereotypes of the kinds of people you'd THINK should be surgeons, so she brings something interesting into the mix.
