Now that I’m working from home, I’ve been doing a lot of channel surfing trying to find shows to have on while i try to work. Lifetime does a Grey’s marathon on Tuesdays. It’s been fun watching shows from 10+ years ago.
And man, the Izzy and Dead Denny storyline was reeeeedonkulous.

We started watching in around season 14, waaaaay late to the party, so now with all this free time, we've gone back to the start. We just got past the Denny storyline, that was totally crazy. As is the immediate jump to being head over heels for George so quickly after Denny. I'm kinda ready for Izzy to be gone, but I suspect I have several more seasons.

Wow, can't believe this show is still on. I stopped watching after season 3 because the show was too outlandish. This was after there was a high school prom in the hospital and Katherine Heigl's character intentionally worsened the health of the patient she was love in with to get him higher on a transplant list. I'm also surprised to hearing Justin Chambers left. If I were a working actor with 5 kids, it'd be tempting to hold onto that sweet network money as long as possible. I worked for a hospital for years (yes, in Seattle), and I find myself shouting at the TV when the doctors are trying to resolve issues that really should be addressed by non-clinical staff. Burst pipes? Stuck elevators? Call Facilities fer cryin' out loud. Furthermore, Facilities staff are also called on to assist in the ER when the doctors can't remove an object impaled or otherwise inserted in a patient. These incidents usually occur late nights on the weekends.

Heh, I did a stint as a hospital SW for a little while ( the hours were GRUELING) and I have on more than one occasion said things like " the head of plastics wouldn't be finding a bed at a shelter for a guy or helping them to get a bed in a rehab facility ( for drugs or for physical rehab). Also every time someone comes in for a rape kit, or there's a really sick kid or someone who's dying, or someone who seems out of their flippin mind you get a social work consult. I joke with some of my sw friends that they really should have a social worker character show up in each episode carrying around a big gulp of coffee, wearing a ridiculous scarf or bubble vest because that's social worker armor, and muttering things like "Why is it that everyone's bad choices are my problem" and then fixing the problem and storming out yelling about documentation. Half of my job then, as it is now, is trying to find creative ways to say something without actually saying it "Patient is a non compliant diabetic with severe neuropathy in left foot. Patient was regularly counseled on proper dietary precautions but was often in room eating and then noted to have required significant medicinal interventions short time later" which is basically just " Homeskillet is an uncontrolled diabetic who ate a whole damn chocolate sheet cake. His foot's probably gonna fall off in rehab" followed by a chefs kiss as you hit save.

People who think they can climb onto a roof after a few beers and replace shingles/ repoint a chimney etc then they fall. Faciltiies staff are called in cause they know how to use power tools. Like sure all the surgeons know how to use "power tools" because the stuff is basically just modified for bones, but to cut a 4in pipe you need the BIG GUNS and they'll come in with their SNAP-ON or DeWalt and get down to business. The stuff being inserted is... well.. the stuff of Cinemax after dark

They'll be there for you in just about any emergent situation. And oh the stories they can tell.....
