I am not making excuses for either them. Nor am I blaming Soon-Yi; All I'm saying is based on what Farrow has said, and some other stuff I've heard/read about Soon-Yi girl kind of sounds like a sociopath, and they come in all ages, shapes, and sizes. Woody was beyond gross for hooking up with his much younger stepdaughter but she isn't entirely without fault.

Yeah, it's called being ugly inside and out.
And yes, the trauma and probably being negleted and abandoned tends to make a personality with attachment disorder or even socipathic tendencies. A lot of children get over it if they find themselves cared for and in a stable environment when they are still young enough. But some kids don't.
I wonder if Mia tried to get Soon Yi counselling when she adopted her to help her adjust?
Anyway it's too late now. Whether it was having such a bad start to life for the first few years of her life, or whether she had had the most idyllic childhood ever from the beginning and she is just essentially a person with no empathetic feelings or sense of right or wrong or she's just a b****..Soon Yi is the way she is now. Not a great person by most people's standards.

I see Woody and Soon Yi walking together up and down Madison Ave every so often. They always walk hand in hand, totally engrossed in each other.
I was talking to a very famous antique dealer on the Upper East Side today and he mentioned that they came by his showroom once with a decorator. They never made eye contact with him and only spoke through the decorator.
They seem very insular and could give a rat's a** what other people think of them. Allen's pictures have been making less and less money and he just keep on doing what he wants. I personally dont care that he is scum. I do care that he is a very overrated director/screenwriter. Most of his work is basically a form of masterbation for him. I hate self-indulgent crap like that.

The last Woody movie I liked was Sweet and Lowdown, and then only because he had the rare good sense to a) cast Sean Penn and Samantha Morton, b) have a bangin' soundtrack. Even so, its best moments were massively ripped off from La Strada -- newsflash, Woody, Lars von Trier already ripped off that movie three years earlier, and with more heartrending results than anything you'll ever achieve.
Anyway, the main reason I bring that movie up is, any dirt on Woody and Sean Penn's supposed headbutting on the set? Penn may be insufferable in his own right but I would so be rooting for him in this case.

No. I remember it from Mia's book, and what happened was totally different. She confronted Soon-Yi in person, Soon-Yi started crying and then Mia either throttled her or slapped her. Mia then went and confronted Woody and there was maybe some vague assurances that it wouldn't happen again (?) and so Mia continued to date Woody for awhile.

What does Mia say about her relationship with Andre Previn in her book? Please correct me if I'm wrong but I think she hooked up with him when he was still married. In fact, I think she became pregnant before his divorce. I wonder how women who've been the "other woman" handle it when they're the one that gets left. Do they have a newfound sympathy for the wife? Or do they continue to rationalize their prior behavior as based on love? Is that the line Woody and Soon Yi tried to use on her? It's interesting how we get to play all the roles one day.

From what I recall, she was really positive about Previn. I don't remember her talking about him being married when they hooked up, but it's been years since I read it, so she either didn't talk about it or only slightly mentioned it. It definitely didn't stick in my memory.

I believe Andre Previn dumped his wife, Dore, for Mia, and that Dore had a nervous breakdown and never quite recovered and wrote some heartbreaking songs on the subject. I could be totally wrong and am too lazy to look it up, so I'll throw it out there with a disclaimer.

So Mia Farrow's autobio is a good read, i take it? I think I'll put a reserve on it at the library.

I know this is slightly beside the point, but did anyone else find it really funny that conductor Previn's wives are Dore and Mia? As in Do-Re-Mi(a)!!
Just me, then? Okaaay...
