Wow. Everyone is coming apart at the seams! I'm glad that I am not the only one who noticed that! Claire acting crazy, and I don't know if it Billy's influence and/or the drugs. Brenda and Nate is just a bad combination. Lord have mercy about the mother's relationship with her husband. David and Keith, what can one say about this tense relationship! Heaven only knows what the series finale is going to be like but, I can't wait to see it!

I have to say that Cromwell killed with his whole "No one is ever lucky to have me." That kind of thing makes me want to cry. He was incredibly affected. And I will say this, it's good to have a show realistically show how difficult mental illness is and how hard recovery is since many feel as if parts of their personality are taken away (even though they function better). It's painful and uncomfortable which makes it far more realistic than if it were not that way.

It was male rejection night at the Fisher's: - Billy is banished by Claire. I think that she was more drugged and "medicated" than he ever was.
- George is going to be left in that empty apartment by Ruth who had the best quote of the night, "Why do I always pick men with such skinny legs?" Does your "legless grandmother" have something to do with that, Ruth?
- And Rico. Well, he deserved it. Rico baked that cake and iced it and shouldn't have been surprised when Vanessa threw it in his face.
I don't know if anyone else watches Deadwood, but when I saw the deceased's family sitting around the table eating canned peaches, I thought someone was going to draw a gun at the table or reach for the butcher knife and start slicing the family pie.

What did Rico think he was going to accomplish by laying it all out in the principal's office?

I haven't a clue, but to me he looked drugged or drunk during that scene.

Yes I do watch Deadwood and yes, I too thought someone was going to draw a gun at that table too.
I just wonder if David and Keith will adopt both boys.

I was suprised that Ruth didn't know that the women were joking about the all women commune.

I felt bad for her all the same. What the HELL was that at the end with Rico and Vanessa?

Why is HBO screwing around with their schedule? OK, now I get it. I missed the Rainbow of Her Reason episode and I hear that Claire had a musical number in it too. I did get to see part of the musical about BioDiversity---oh mighty elm fighting the Elm Dutch Disease (was that some sort of reference to AIDS?). And David looked oh so cute and gay in his sailorboy outfit singing about the sea or something. Ruth was a riot in this episode. Running around exposing herself to all sorts of cultural challenges and exposing other people to her Famous Potato Salad. And that moment when she is warning off George's new fiancee and denies that she is angry while breaking a vase or knickknack or whatever was perfect. Oh no, you're never angry Ruth. That's why you continually cause scenes at weddings and parties. The producers and writers on this show ought to make a scary movie about precocious and obnoxious children. Those children that Keith babysits are so unreal, but not more so than that strange niece of Nate's and Lisa's from last season or those children of the corn who wandered around the Funeral Home in season 2, I think. Some of their children are so natural (I am thinking of the foster children or Keith's niece) and then the other children are just wierd beyond abnormal. So why did Vanessa take Rico back?

I alternated between feeling really bad for Ruth and not so bad. She's obviously on the brink of some major breakdown/break through. I seem to remember her bitching in seasons/episodes past about how her children never open up to her. Claire bares her soul about how she has zero inspiration, how she's questioning her pursuit of being an artist, and the most Ruth can say is "You better hurry up and change for dinner?" And then Ruth insists upon bringing potato salad to her friend's party. I felt embaressed for her at first, but then I felt like she got what she deserved. She's so damn controlling, but I can't help but feel like she's coming unhinged. As for the previews for next week, maybe she can find a role for herself in interacting with David and Keith's kids.
And here's another dose of my $.02. Brenda and Nate. Thank you Brenda for finally (hopefully) telling Nate to figure out what the hell he wants to do with his life. I think they both handled the situation with their baby wrong, but the ultimate shithead award has to go to Nate. He should have said he wanted to do the amnio so they wouldn't have to worry for 5-6 months, not because if they baby was disabled they should abort it. I know Brenda was frightened but she shouldn't have snapped about nate wanting to "kill" the baby. You're either going to be partners with the person you've married or enemies, so figure it out. To me, it looks like it could either way for those two.
One question though, at the end of the episode when Nate is standing in the funeral home, wathcing the quakers and maggie, and closes his eyes, it shows Brenda buying her poncho. Is that what she was really doing or is that what he was thinking about? I watched it again and I can't tell.
