I'm like you Ramona Q, when it comes to TV, I don't want to have to fill in the fucking blanks and write my own story! Not after watching a show for this many years.

See, TTMR & I thought that the FBI was lying in wait for Tony, and all those people coming in and looking at him were prospective agents. When Agent Harris heard that Phil L. was killed, wasn't his reaction something like, "Oh, we'll get him now!" We thought Agent Harris was feeding Tony these little tidbits as bait so they can reel him in on something big.
Wasn't somebody from the NJ family getting ready to flip?

Now that I have had some time to reflect on that final show, I really think what we were seeing was the final day of Tony's life.
Oooh boy... Well, it was. The final day of the TV show, the final day for the characters' and Tony's TV life...It was death in many senses. AJ, Paulie Walnuts, and the cat were all comedy gold. This last season was the funniest this show has ever been. Like Meadow's future MIL, this show doesn't do JOKES but it is funny.

I thought this played into the general stress of Tony's life, too. He always has to be worried that someone is turning rat. It doesn't end. He always has to be looking over his shoulder.
And since this is the last time I'll get to say it: Shut. Up. Meadow. You really think your dad is being unfairly targeted by the "state" just because he's Italian? (Although I loved Tony's "New Jersey?" response to her state comment.)

Meadow is such a nothing. She just adopts whatever persona her current boyfriend has (Finn-med student; Patrick-law student). For all her protests that she's different, she just ended up another mafia princess.
I thought it was awesome that Hunter (David Chase's real daughter!) showed up and that she's a bigger success than Meadow. Carmela's look was priceless--I think she knows that she failed in her mission to get Meadow out of "the life."
Didn't Agent Harris say something like, "They're gonna win this"? Like he was rooting for Tony. A proxy for the audience, maybe.

See, I saw myself in Agent Harris's glee at Tony winning the war. I wanted him to live, I wanted him to never get arrested the whole time I watched this show. So I can believe they all lived to muddle through another day. And moblife rolls on--Meadow's marrying into it, AJ is working through a mob-run business, Tony will continue to skirt around incarceration, and Carm will probably need Tony to grease the wheels on her new real estate project. Or, the lyrics to the song: "the movie never ends, it goes on and on and on" is foreshadowing for a movie?

Hunter's his real life daughter? Huh I didn't know that. I thought she looked terrible, very bloated in the face, compared to years ago when she was on the show.

Well how did you like it ?
The only thing that was very distracting was the quickcut editing. FRANTIC - I would call it. Chase had to do that because of the four multiple endings - no good continuity because it was shot in quick sequence scenes ( very few long shots ) but, it still told a story.
Melfi ended up on the cutting room floor, they kept the cat in ! Did you get his name ? " Aiello " Paulie and the cat could go on the road - comedy gold ! Kept Donna Pescow - she looked rough. " Made in America " scene with the gun was taken out because the killing was removed , so that title made no sense whatsoever. AJ with the car - funny (ironic) as shit ! AJ's whole attitude toward it - FUNNEE ! It just goes to show these two kids ( AJ & Meadow ) haven't a clue, their parents always bail them out and coddle them. Sammy the Bull Gravano used to execute people in the same manner that Phil was done , one to the head and one to the heart . The guy that shot Phil looks like Sammy too. The thing where Phil is runover - IRONIC - Damn , it's like the thing where Chrissie gets into the car accident but it's Tony that inevitably kills Chrissie, like a double blow.
ALL the people in Holstein's icecream parlor/diner had a grudge with Tony , the black kid , the capped man Tony bled dry, the italian at the counter that walked into the bathroom.
I loved the fact that Agent Harris fucked a NYC Brooklyn cop to get info for Tony as to where Phil is and calls Tony immediatley after he fucks her to tell him where Phil is. Agent Harris is ALL for Tony and is on his side. Tony is feeding him info on the terrorists. Agent Harris gets the news about Phil being hit and he joyously says " Damn, We're gonna win this thing ! " LOL !!!
"Set me free why doncha babe !" Do we love the songs they used this time ? " You just keep me hanging on ". That song is featured thryout the entire show at different scenes .
What ever you take from the ending is what YOUR perception is:
1. He's shot and killed at the table by the italian guy that walked into/out of the bathroom and everything goes black because it's his last moment on Earth. He's dead.
2. The paranoia that Tony constantly feels being Tony Soprano. As illustrated in the last 3 minutes of the show. Chase really made everyone's heart pound for those last few minutes in the diner. ( I know mine was , I actually had a physiological effect ! )
3. That Chase was trying to show you that life goes on. Nothing happens to the family. Status Quo.
They left Tony, Sil and Paulie alive - possibility of not only a PREQUEL , but a SEQUEL. Altho, James Gandolfini has said he would like to move on from Tony , he didn't like the character the past three years and doesn't want to play him anymore . He said that he gained almost 98 lbs to balloon up to the 298 that he weighed during this past season , they wanted a fat Tony not a skinny Tony. He plans on losing 75 - 100 lbs. now. I personally don't think he'll do another Sopranos unless it's a one off movie - he ain't going back to this series. He despised the character.
Loved the Bu$h Ba$hing thruout the episode. ( Sorry in advance to all you Bu$h Lovers )
eta: BTW, I loved the entire show. It was typical Sopranos.
