My mother has an unset amethyst previous owned by Marie of Romania. It was given to mom by a woman who was the wife of a diplomat in the '30s and '40s.

Charles and Diana's is... sad. Hitler would have liked the clean, symmetrical lines of that cake. I'd take it over a fruitcake any day, assuming that fruitcake means the same thing in the UK that it does here.

We're making a version of Harry and Meghan's cake to serve on Saturday. (By "we" I mean I'm making part of it and our housemate is making part.I made the lemon curd last night.) I couldn't find the elderflower cordial at World Market, I ended up ordering some from Amazon.

That was one of our favorite cakes during our recent wedding cake tasting--though we're going in another direction, I think dark chocolate with a chocolate buttercream.

I will be in a hotel for a baseball tournament that will probably be canceled for rain. I’m taking a cupcake which I’ll fill with store bought lemon curd. I have some IKEA elderflower syrup which I’ll drizzle on the cake. It’s pretty low rent, but it’s the best I could do. Ok, I could have made a cake to take with me, but I chose sleep.

I fell down the You Tube rabbit hole, and found this video about the branches on Queen Victoria's family tree. Fascinating.

So I finished the 'Victoria and her Nine Children' doc series that recently aired. She was truly a horrible mother especially after Albert died. She blamed Bertie (Ed 7), for Albert's death and did everything she could to undermine him (he didn't help by being a boozehound and a man whore), was atrocious to Helena and Beatrice and don't get me started on her treatment of poor Leopold. Has anyone seen this series? It was really good. Princess Louise was my favourite, her drama would put Margaret, Diana and HRH Duchess Ferg to shame. Also, how in the hell did Victoria get away with not being seen by the public for almost 35 years!!

I am not sure where you are, I'm in Ontario and watched it on our public television network. It was a BBC docu series from 2018. It's so good! I hope you find it!
