Ray Stevenson was just cast in the Pilot for Babylon Fields and Kevin McKidd has been cast as the Lead in Journeymen. Two shows I WILL be watching.

I'm sad there's only two episodes left!! How the hell are they going to sum it all up?... I hope the last one is two hours long. Man, I wish this kind of show didn't have such a short run.

Full-frontal Pullo! Yowza!
Now that Vorenus went with Antony, I am still believing in a Pullo/Vorenus meet-up at the Battle of Actium. They each rush in to strike during the heat of battle. Suddenly, they each recognize their opponent, gaze lovingly into each other's eyes, throw down their weapons, and stroll hand-in-hand off into the sunset.
Failing that, I hope Pullo slices Gaia up and serves her with a side of dormouse.

Gaia is cold-blooded. I keep trying to imagine her life as a slave but dang...Eirene couldn't possibly have been her worst enemy.
Is Octavia serious about being pregnant? Or did she just want to shake up Agrippa?

So we finally met the infamous Livia, cementing the tie between Rome and I, Claudius. I liked how she was snacking on that bird, showing how blase she was to the craziness that is the House of Julii. And Octavian's a pervert!

I put this series on my Netflix list based on what I've read here. My husband and I just watched the fifth disc of the first season, in other words, the last episode of season one (I understand disc six doesn't have much on it but filler. Can anyone tell me for certain? Thanks!). What a fantastic series! We've found it enjoyable and very well acted (the only jarring note for me was the introduction of Cleopatra. This whiny, spoiled gal is supposed to be a great beauty? Sorry, but I'm not seeing it.) We were tickled to see Max Pirkis as Octavian. He really caught my eye in Master and Commander. I tried to avoid being spoilered by reading here but I have no will power. We're both disappointed that there are only two seasons. But, then again, it's nice to be watching a show that has a definite storyline and ending in sight. The episodes seem tight and there's no floundering (see: Lost, Battlestar Galactica). We're definitely going to be buying both seasons. So, thanks, Greecies, for turning me on to this series.

Is that where I've seen Max Pirkis before? Holy crap, thanks COB. Wowza, he's grown up, um, swell.

Disc 6 is all special features. And by all accounts, Cleopatra wasn't all that in the physical looks department (she relied instead on her intelligence and wit) so the show is correct in that regard. I do agree though that I didn't really care for Lyndsey Marshall's portrayal in "Caesarion" with that squeaky voice she used. Thankfully, she's been a lot better in the second season. In a couple hours, we'll see the relationship with her and Marc Antony begin!

I didn't realize that about the historical Cleopatra (though I thought there were still in existance some busts of her that I thought showed her as an attractive woman). It's nice to know that I'm not the only one bugged by the actress' portrayal. Yeah, the squeaky voice was the worst part. In a couple of hours, you'll get to see the relationship with her and Marc Anthony begin. I'm going to have to wait until these come out on DVD as we don't have HBO. Enjoy the show! Oh, and thanks for the head's up on the sixth disc. Is that where I've seen Max Pirkis before? Holy crap, thanks COB. Wowza, he's grown up, um, swell. Yes, yes he has. I'll feel better thinking that when he reaches legal age. Wowza, indeed.
