Is anyone else getting excited for series 2 of Downton Abbey? For some reason I thought that it didn't start back until January, but that's just when the US gets it. Sooo excited! But isn't Mad Men also returning in January? What if they're on at the same time?! Aren't they both usually on Sunday? Not to cavalierly throw around 'Sophie's Choice', but... |

Has anyone been watching "Sirens", about a trio of darkly comic, horndog paramedics? A friend tipped me to some YouTube clips which prompted me to put an eyepatch on and hoist a parrot to my shoulder but it's taking forever. Worth the wait?
ETA: LOVING the first episode! Of course, any series which kicks off with the line "adrenaline, fucking adrenaline" is going to get me interested. Gosh, but we have such weak-tea dialog in North America.

So I'm working my way through the compleat Are You Being Served on DVD for the umpteenth time. Every episode is a 30-minute Mollie Sugden Master Class in How To Imbue Even The Simplest Line With Multiple Layers Of Meaning. John Inman keeps ascending to new heights of awesome. I used to want to work at Grace Brothers. Now I want to live at Grace Brothers. I know they can put me on that floor where they set up Mrs. Slocums's apartment. I wouldn't be any trouble, would I, Mister Lucas? No, no, definitely no trouble, Mr. Duke. No trouble at all.
(For connoisseurs of the female form, if you go a-Googling for "Candy Davis nude" you will learn that the delectable Miss Belfridge won a Miss Nude 1982 contest. If you watch the decidedly NSFW video, you will see why. Oh. My. Goddess!)

I just started watching The Fades, as bstewart gave it his stamp of approval.  And does anyone know when Luther's coming back? I know Brit shows have shortened seasons but damn, there've only been four eps so far! |

I just finished the 4th episode of The Fades and it was a doozy. It had a couple of those stop everything you're doing and watch this moments. But now I think I need to wait a while, because I always zip through British shows and then find out it'll be 18 months before a new episode.

Mitigating factor: watching The Fades again gives you the opportunity to savour the deft performances and catch stuff you might've missed the first time. I've seen it three times and am kinda hungering for #4.
