Just awful about that poor Whippet! Has anyone seen or heard an update on that situation? I can't imagine such a thin, short-haired animal will survive long in the kind of weather New York is having. No, the poor baby is still missing! I honestly don't think she's still alive - they showed choppers flying up over the airport searching for her, and that was yesterday. Still no sign of her - and you're right, with the cold and winds we're having right now here in NY, I'm guessing she can't still be alive. So sad, it breaks my heart to think about it!

USAToday picks some favorites including Bill Cosby's Dandie Dinmont Terrier who's currently the #1 ranked in the country (but DDTs always look odd to me -- like their heads are bigger than their bodies -- and Harry's working quite the bouffant there). Go sporting group!

Doxies never win. It seems like it's always a poodle or an Afghan hound. Doxies never even win the hound group. It's fixed I tell you!

Belgian Sheepdogs are just too elegant and brilliant for those fools of judges- they never win group.

www.westminsterkennelclub.org/breedinformation/hound/norwgnek.htmlPlease think of the poor, deserving Elkhound.... They always get robbed. Muttgirl has her paws crossed that an Elki wins this year. She's not show quality but likes to listen to the barking when we finally manage to catch it. The one in the the link is a ringer for our old Elki. Muttgirl has too much grey on her legs to be shown. But we think she's the prettiest girl in the world.

As much as I love my favorite breed, Australian Shepherds, I'm not a big fan of the ones you see in the show ring. Of course they're beautiful dogs, but I know they aren't representative of what I think the breed should be. But the herding group is generally my favorite anyway. The Pekingese always cracks me up too, because my Peke is nothing like a typical example of the breed. But I do actually love the toy group too. *blows raspberries at Topher* I'll definitely be watching.
