Already got my tickets! My husband and I went to the live Plan 9 From Outer Space show back in August, and it was so much fun to sit in a theater and laugh along with other fans. This show will make my Christmas!

This show will make my Christmas! I think I'm going to try and go. I watched "Santa Claus vs. The Martians" this morning. I still have a crush on Joel.

Even though we have a middle school choir concert on Tuesday night, and a dance performance at the city-wide Trail of Lights on Thursday night, Mr. d has decreed that we really can't miss this, so Wednesday night we're picking divaspawn1 up from dance class and driving out to see this. We might have regretfully passed it up, but Weird Al is too much to miss.

It is so worth it. Anyone who decides to make the trip to the cinema will be glad they did. We honestly laughed more than we have at a movie in a long time.

I'll have to give it a shot. I went to a Cinematic Titanic live show a few months back, and it was awesome (and I'm generally a Mike girl rather than a Joel girl). At one point I was laughing so hard I almost couldn't breathe, and it was awesome to be there in a theater full of fans.

Ooooh my fellow Greecies went!!
What did you think? I think the phrase "I need you tonight" has forever ruined Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer for me. My theater was absolutely roaring at that point.

Ours, too! It was about half full, but everyone was having a great time. I especially loved the ongoing references to the no-account Christmas tree from "Christmas Rhapsody". I was hoping Weird Al would perform something from his new album--I was a little disappointed that he didn't have more to do. We had a super time, though--my face was sore from laughing so much!

I thought it paled in comparison to the Plan 9 movie back in August, but it was still fun. It just had some real lulls in it that I didn't feel the movie had. And, I always find their between-film banter a bit stilted, AND I could do without the cheesy music they played before the movie started as well as the only-slightly-funny movie trivia. Still, minor squibbles as I had fun overall and the Rudolph/Santa tryst was an absolute scream! I also love the weird short with the dancing doll.
ETA: Did anyone else sense shades of Manos with the crappy acting and editing in that Santa's Toy Shop short?

I know this sounds weird, but when I heard Peter Graves had passed away one of my first thoughts was "Nooo! A piece of MST3K lore, gone!!"
"The Beginning of the End" is an oddly likeable little movie (obviously better with riffing, but it's one that you could conceivably watch by itself) and Graves actually aquits himself pretty well, for a movie about giant grasshoppers. Then there's "parts: the clonus horror" where his villain speech is one of the best parts of the movie. Also I can't hear about his brother James Arness without thinking of Tom Servo's Biography-style rant over the end credits of that movie. I know he was also in "It Conquered the World" but I haven't seen that one in years.
I hope bringing up his "bad" movies doesn't come across as disrespectful. I've watched a lot of these episodes a gazillion times and I have a weird yet strong affection for them.
