I'm watching The Incredibly Mixed Up Blah Blah Zombies right now, and I love all the obscure music references in it. Mike: "Oh, so (the movie stripper) Carmelita shares a place with Jaco Pastorius!" OMG, who makes Jaco Pastorius references in jokes? This is just one of the reasons I love this show /MUSIC NERD

Jack Frost makes Manos seem like a study in restraint and sanity. Although someone on TWOP said Jack Frost is actually a beloved children's film in Russia and it was really the bad English dubbing that fucked it up. I can buy that; one of my favorite movies as a kid was Return to Oz and I bet if that was dubbed in Russia it would seem awful, too.
I'm watching Laserblast on Youtube and I love the scene where the girl goes up to a van with its back doors wide open and one of the guys pipes up with, "Hey, I'd like to buy some sweet corn!" I love it because I'm a Midwesterner and as any Midwesterner will tell you, in summer we buy our veggies from the backs of vans and pick-up trucks and folks sitting on lawn chairs by the side of the road. That, indeed, that does look exactly like the van that I buy my sweet corn from.

We do that in Florida too, poorfrances! I haven't seen Laserblast yet....hmmm. It's very rare that I'm on a cable conncection, so should I watch that or Monster a Go-Go before I head home. So many bad movies, so little time!

I have Laserblast on tape and I truly treasure it. "Hey, Robert Smith is in a good mood today!"

Someone just posted highlights from Riding With Death on Youtube.
"A couple of drops on a tissue nearly blew this whole room apart!" SOL: "Well, knocked over a chair."

"Hey, am I in this movie?"
"Thanks for saving my life, Saaam. Thanks for saving my life. Though you might regret it, thanks for saving my life, Saaaaam..."

You know some people watch football on Thanksgiving--I used to watch Comedy Central's "Turkey Day" Marathon's...30 Hours of MST3K. The best part--was the song...which I can sadly still sing.

ThursdayNext, thank you so much! I'm not losing my mind! (...yet.)
kateln: "We gather together to watch cheesy movies/On Comedy Central this Thanksgiving Day..." Oh, yeah, I know it too.
Another great episode (which I watched on YouTube, but can no longer find -- sob!!) was "Daddy-O." After a lounge singer performed a number with his belt somewhere around his ribcage, Joel and the 'bots sang "Hike, hike, hike up your britches." Gold!
I've set up a points-based reward system for healthy behaviors in my life. The first reward? Ordering some MST3K DVDs.
