As the owner of a bad back myself I totally felt for Gregory. It totally sucks.

I wish that Gregory had made it to the finale. That being said, I really want Melissa to win this, I'm rooting for her.

Glad Kevin was PPYKAG'd. He got way too up his own ass the last few weeks. And, ouch, that the Italian judges said Brian's food lacked soul. You could tell that hurt him.
I'm happy with the Final 3. Stephanie has really brought it, and I like Brian, but I think Melissa is the frontrunner. She's been on fire all season.

Kevin Kevin Kevin. His bless at being/eating/smelling all the 30 to 100 year old meat and cheese, because he spent a year in Italy at the beginning of his studies? Like this experience means so much more to him than the other chefs? Way over played Kev, and you were one of my favs at the beginning of the season.
I watch a few Chopped, and Kevin made Chopped grade rookie mistakes. Pouring olive oil over his finished pork on pork dish, not prioritizing the basket ingredients, and piling a shit-ton of grated Parmesan cheese on his ravioli. At the table. That’s Olive Garden Kev.
I did fear for Bryan. The Italian food experts were so harsh on him. How can you tell that food has no soul? How is that a crit? I mean, I do painting crits all the time. I do a very traditional 300 year old discipline, so no touchy feely going on. Telling someone their painting has no soul is a cop out and lazy. You can say it’s too simple, composition is bad, parts don’t work together, unbalanced. That’s a critique. “No soul” is crap. Italian judge, that is crap.
Italian judge, you have no soul. Sorry, can’t elaborate further. I’m an expert. No soul. Live with it. bye-ee

Yeah, is "your food has no soul" like saying it's under-seasoned? /sarcasm
Also, Melissa had the line of the season when they went down into that cellar of the restaurant: "Is this the part of Top Chef where we all get murdered?"

Yeah, the “your food has no soul” stuff was weird. And very pretentious. And I really felt for Bryan because it obviously bothered him so much they they said that, and I don’t think Padma was all that thrilled about having to say it. Generally you can tell when she’s sad to say something negative to the chefs and that was one of those times.
I’m happy with the final three, and I truly don’t care who wins. Melissa is awesome, Stephanie is the lovable underdog who’s peaking at the exact right time, and Bryan is the Voltaggio I like (I was rooting for him in the Vegas season, Michael is kind of off-putting to me.) I think this might be my favorite final three ever.

Not gonna lie. My feminist heart was thrilled that of the four, it was the two women who had the best dishes. Especially considering the boy's club mentality when it comes to professional chefs.
I also like that Stephanie made a prosciutto ragù. My MIL makes that. We received our weekly cheese/meat/pasta order yesterday, so watching this wasn't too hard, since I knew we had a ton of amazing prosciutto waiting for dinner last night ... and tonight! No parmigiano reggiano, though, as that stuff is crazy expensive, even here. We splurge enough on other cheeses and meat.

I really want to have some of Bryan’s “best pasta we’ve had all night” soulless food.

Yes! I'm so happy that Melissa won, she really deserved it. Stephanie did so well, I'm glad that it helped her be in a better place. You could see the moment when Brian knew he lost when the judges talked about what was wrong with his main and praised Melissa's. I enjoyed this season.

I'm happy for Melissa. I would've been happy for any of them, though, as they all seem like good people, along with being great chefs. I think this may have been one of the few times when every course that each of them made sounded and looked great. Would've loved to eat all of it.
