I was hoping Melissa or Stephanie would win, though Brian wouldn't have been a huge disappointment. I loved the thought of Stephanie's taleggio capaletti.

Anyone watching the new season? I really like having former contestants being part of the judging committee and I'm enjoying the contestants so far. Last night they went to different Pan African restaurants in Portland and the challenge was about that cuisine--and it all looked so good. I would even be tempted to try the goat dish that won(I'm a weird mix of picky eater and adventurous, in that I'll at least try things before noping out).

It IS a strong group! Really liking Shota--his laugh is contagious.
Also, I'm always amused by Tom's varied annoyances throughout the season. In the previews he was bemoaning "it's a fruit challenge--where's the fruit?" in that exasperated way of his.

I will never forgive him for voting Sam off in season 2 or 3 (with Elan and Marcel) because he did a ceviche and Tom said 'it's a cooking show - he didn't cook anything!'

I’ve spent a lot of time in Portland so I’m enjoying seeing places I recognize or have been to. I was so psyched that they went to OMSI in the first episode, because I’ve had lunch there a couple times. I think it’s the first time the cheftestants have cooked in a kitchen that I’ve actually had food from.

Caught up on a little bit of this season yesterday and I'm really enjoying it. Padma's movie genre intros in the drive-in episode were hilarious, I commend her willingness to look silly.
I'm really loving Shota as well, although I really like Gale, Dawn and Avishar too.

I loved Padma’s movie intros too, I wonder who got to throw the pies in her face?

I loved Padma’s movie intros too, I wonder who got to throw the pies in her face? They were fun and she really leaned into it! Rolling my eyes at Tom trying to sway votes at the drive-in. He's also so incredulous when someone disagrees with him.

I like Shota but that story about his drive in dish, where he serves essentially his dead dog on a stick? Yikes.
And I know the chefs were a little snotty about this one but I actually thought it was a lot of fun and that there were some missed opportunities to be more creative. It reminded me of the dinner in Season 2 (ugh) where each chef was inspired by one of the seven deadly sins. I wanted to say to them, this is Top Chef guys, you know they're going to make you do a lot of gimmicky stuff, so stop rolling your eyes. If you don't like that then don't sign up for the show.
