What's the deal w/ Letizia's fertility? Is it really true that they're trying to get pregnant and cant' or are they just waiting a while. I've read some stuff saying that she's been seeking infertility treatments.
I think it's funny that when couples can't get pregnant it's automatically the woman that's to blame. Maybe it's Felipe's fault there's no baby.

I'm so surprised that people are upset she's not pregant yet. They haven't even been married a year! As far as her infertility goes, don't they usually make whoever is going to marry an heir undergo some sort of test to make sure that they're fertile? It's seems unlikely that they'd allow Letizia and Felipe to get married if she were infertile.

I can never bring myself to care about Letizia at all. She's like white rice to me. Completely bland. I feel the same way about her husband. I just get this feeling that if I was forced to spend an hour with them I'd go into a zzzzzzzz. Not to long ago on the GRE board a few people were pointing out how much Letizia looks like Rania. She does, but Rania has something that makes you want to look at her. Letizia just....zzzzzz...

I really, really like Letizia. But, I think the problem is that she hasn't been able to create an "identity" for herself as a Crown Princess. She just stands there beside Felipe or the other Spanish royals with a serious look on her face.
What charities and issues are she interested in? So far she hasn't undertaken any solo engagements. I read on GREMB that it was beacuse they felt she "wasn't ready" but I ahve a lot of trouble believing this. I think someone who had previously made a career as a news anchor would be quite good at the solo events. I think once she starts doing things on her own more, I'll be able to judge a little better
Is it true her in laws don't like her? I don't know what their problem is - Felipe has never shown interest in noble/aristocratic women and Letizia is certainly a step up from the model he used to date.

Letizia is dull, but relatively unoffensive. IT's too bad she hasn't created an identity for herself. I imagine that she's fairly bright. Can't she do anything by herself yet? Mary's already started doing engagements by herself.
Is it true that she and Sofia don't get along?

Felipe is the apple of his mothers eye. I doubt she is the one who has the problem with Letizia although she opposed Felipes previous girlfriend (Isabel Sartorius) on the grounds that her parents were divorced and had dodgy dealings so what she thinks of a third generation divorce is only in the private thoughts of her majesty and one can only guess. try the king, elena and her husband. Look at the pictures of the petition del mano you see an almost tearful Elena. look at the pictures of the 25th anniversary of the consitution with Letizia imbetween Jaime (who is from blue blooded Spanish Aristocracy and whose son will inherit the crown if CPLetizia does not produce heirs) he barely acknowledges her. The opposition to Letizia is from the what one calls Juan Carlistas, pro monarchists and aristocratic classes of Spain. The republicans don't have a problem with her. The link between her high heels and fertility was denied by Jaime Penafiel in El Mundo it was a good story to tell pre the release of his book. anyone that has read his book knows that he never makes those assertions. Somehow those putting the story about the link use it to discredit Penafiel because he is no fun of CPLetizia and is one of the few journalists in Spain that dare to criticize her openly. CPL is not allowed to do solo engagements because she is apparently a princess still in training and not yet ready to carry out solo engagements. I'd read between the lines and say palace insiders and possibly the king don't feel she is ready. Remember CP MAry dated Frederick for 3 years and lived with him for quite a while she knew what she was getting into. CPF met Letizia whilst she was dating another journalist and in 6 months were engaged and 6 months later married. Yes she is a career woman with a big capital C but one need only to read Princess Alexandras of Denmarks interview on her 40th birthday talking about the transistion from career woman to princess and how it took her awhile to work out where role. And how she had to realsie she just wasn't marrying Joachim but in some respect a nation as well. No doubt she got her transistion perfectly.

Hmm. Interesting gossip about the Spaniards. Honestly, I'd think that after Eva, they'd all be pleased as punch with Letizia. Although, as I recall no one looked overly happy on the wedding day. I wonder who they woul dhave wanted Felipe to marry. He didn't seem to ever date aristocrats...was there someone they had in mind for him?

Remember his father had to marry his mother not out of love but out of duty. An equal marriage was expected. tatiana of Lichenstien was favoured by the queen, apparently not by Felipe. So the expectations of him were to do his duty and have an equal marriage. I.e. an aristocrat or HRH. Failing that a woman with no past. i.e not divorced or a single mother. So a Masako, Alexandra or Maxima type girl. No one whose past would come back to haunt them and discredit the family.Spain is a modern country but lets not forget catholic. I read a sarcastic article about how the catholic church in Spain has lost all authourity after the scandal of child abuse in america and then turning a blind eye to the Crown Princesses first marriage and now getting on their high horses banging on about gay marriage as the govt, of spain tries to get approval for it. How do you have authority in such an instance?
Oh about the wedding day did you watch it live. if you have it taped fast forward to the bit where they are exchanging thier vows, the camera then turns unto the king who closes his eyes like he was watching a nightmare occurring.

the camera then turns unto the king who closes his eyes like he was watching a nightmare occurring. Can't. Stop. Laughing. OMG...that's absolutely hilarious. You would have made it even more awesome? If he'd married someone like Mette-Marit. At least she's never been previously married. Oh yeah...and about good old Juan Carlos. Apparently he brings the male slut big time...from what i've heard he sleeps with anything that moves. Do he and Sofia have a marriage at all or is it completely a facade? I guess the "two wacky kids in love" story they whore out isn't the truth after all. I've never really been down with Sofia...she has a bit of a pudding face and seems kind of sanctimonious for someone who (1) isn't from spain; and (2) isn't orignally catholic.

I was so disappointed in their wedding. One of the few times any royal event is broadcast here in the US and it was one of the least joyous weddings I have ever witnessed. So uncomfortable. Especially coming right after the wedding in Denmark which was filled with such love. I turned it off and went back to bed.
