I keep waiting for Infanta Sofia to grow into her looks, but she's still weird looking and almost bald.

She's a Bourbon. The women in that family aren't exactly stunners IMO. Maybe Leonor got lucky. (I say "maybe" because she's too young to know if she got saddled with the Bourbon nose just yet.)

I don't think that's enforced as much these days. I've seen most of the Princesses wearing black to non-funeral events - even Letizia, although she usually wears it to evening events.

When she was a journalist, she dressed very sleekly (in mostly white or black suits) and now she can't seem to get it together. Maybe she feels she needs to look less business like and more princessy?

She also wore foreign designers (like Armani) before getting married. Now it's rare that you'll see her in something that's not Spanish designed, so I don't think she has a lot of freedom in that department. She did the colorful and semi-stylish thing the first couple of years of her marriage. It's just been over the past year that she's been rocking the frump look with the hair and clothing.

This is true. I hope that Leonor and Sofia take after their mother's sisters than their father's sisters (although I do think that Infanta Cristina can look very pretty from time to time). From what I've seen, Sofia has already greatly improved in the looks department.

Even if Sofia turns out not to be blessed when it comes to her appearance, I'll think she'll end up having more fun than her sister. Being the spare will be sweet! All the privilege and only a fraction of the responsibility!

Call me mean, but I think Leonor and Sofia will be having plenty of fun together because I don't think Big Sis is ever making it to the throne.

I'll be very surprised if the Spanish monarchy doesn't end during Felipe's reign.

It is not fair that the Queen and Infantas get to wear foreing designers but she can't.

Ahahaha. I forgot about republicanism in Spain. And most supporters of the monarchy in Spain are only supporters of Juan Carlos, right?

I read an article recently called something like "Juan Carlos's Terrible Year" and it said there are quite a few people in Spain wanting JC to abdicate in favor of Felipe. If that's true and people aren't even too keen on JC anymore, that doesn't bode well.

That's sad about Letizia's grandmother. She's endured a lot of upheaval since marrying Felipe, with giving birth to two daughters and her sister's suicide. Poor thing.

I visited Spain last week and my sister, who's been living there, said that most Spaniards really like Felipe and Letizia. They really love Juan Carlos because he ended the military coup in the early 80s, but they seem to admire Felipe and Letizia too (especially since Letizia was a well-known newscaster before marrying Felipe). So maybe they'll let the royal family stick around a little while longer.

Do you know where/when those new pictures were taken? Because I haven't seen her looking that depressed/upset since her sister's funeral and it's a bit alarming.

Her old nose was fine. The plastic surgery combined with the extreme emaciatedness are big flashing warning signs that things are not right with her.
