So what's the deal with him? He's almost 50 and never married, which I assume is frowned upon by royal families. Is he gay? (not that there's anything wrong with that...) Does he just like being a "playboy"? Does he have halitosis?

He seems to be gay. He visited the gay festival in Stockhom a couple of years ago with his male friend, a doctor.

He is a SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO gay! But the powers-that-be think the General Public is incredibly stupid and niave and continue to declare that "he hasn't found the right woman yet." Whatever. He's gay. Unless he finds some woman to marry him and bear him a child for appearances sake, Caroline will rule after him and then her eldest son, Andreas.

But it would be so easy for him to find a famewhore (or young woman who hasn't grown out of the "pretty pretty princess" stage) willing to marry him for show and have his questionably conceived kids. What socialite wouldn't want to be like Marie-Chantal - but with a real royal title?

But if that's not what Albert wants, more power to him.

If Caroline takes over the throne in Monaco, wouldn´t the next one to do it little Alexandra??? She is the only one who is a princess. After all Andrea is just "mr Casiraghi".

Well, OK. I should have known. Many men that Brooke Shields has been linked with have turned out to be... not straight.

I wonder if PAoM will come out after Rainier dies?

ETA: saw on the news this morning that PA is officially taking over. And I have to wonder, how is it that two really attractive people like Grace and Rainier could produce such fugly offspring? I mean, dayum.

I've always been intrigued by him...he went to college in Amherst, where I grew up. I was in junior high or maybe high school, so I got nothin'. The best I can do is a girl who went to Smith, who later became a close friend of mine, was introduced to him at a party. She got dragged over to meet him because she looked alot like Lady Di and for some reason this meant they should meet. He was polite; she never saw him again.

It is interesting to note that the towns of Amherst and Northampton (next town over) are known for their large gay popluations. Roughly, Amherst = gay men and Noho = gay women. Was it the fine academics at Amherst College that made him pick it, or was he attracted to something else?

I thought Caroline wasn't allowed to take over? For some reason I thought it had to go thru the male line. Guess I'm out of the loop. Will the House of Grimaldi become the House of Casiraghi?

I didn't know Amherst is fey too. I remember looking at Smith College 6 years ago and it looked like the whole town was les city. Not that there is anything wrong with that!

Just out of curiosity, whatever happened to the talk of Ranier adopting Andrea in order to bypass the law? I suppose that's a moot point now, since the law changed and now Andrea will get it after Caroline, but I was wondering why the adoption idea never worked. Maybe they figured Andrea was too young?
