Oh, I loved Rickie to bits. The most likeable character on the show, IMO. His storyline in the Christmas episode killed me. I need to dig out my DVDs stat. Aw, I didn't think Brian was that bad. Maybe just because my real-life Krakow ended up getting a bit wild in college and losing most of the nerdiness. But Krakow's hair was unbelievably bad. So, so bad. See, the way Krakow acted to Delia Fisher during that episode where he dumped her to take Angela to the World Happiness Dance just sealed the deal for me: Krakow was just ridiculously immature and the kind of person whose clueless behavior actually makes me angry. Just looking at Jordan Catalano and Brian Krakow's behavior...Catalano may have been kind of stupid, but he was sex on a stick. It seems too unbelievable that Angela would have ever fallen for Brian, but I'm probably just projecting.

Yeah. I wanted to root for Krakow but I just couldn't. It wasn't so much that he was a nerd, it was that he was so creepy and obsessed with Angela and instead of being endearing, it was gross. I am so not a fan of those types of characters (see also: Duckie from Pretty in Pink) and never was able to warm to Brian the way I would have liked. I wasn't all pro-Jordan (he was too insensitive and stupid for Angela) but I preferred him to Brian.

Good points, kathy! I love Jordan so much more now.
I forgot about the Krakow/Delia Fisher thing. What an ass. I know it was high school, and I remember being pretty selfish and stupid too, but that was low. I changed my mind -- I hope Angela didn't pick him.

And there in lies the coolness of Rickie again. He was so good to Delia. He danced with her, so sweet. And then she had a crush on him and he was like. "Wow I could be straight! It would uncomplicate my whole life if I could be straight" But we all knew that Rickie could never be straight.
As far as Angela with the dance though, I thought she totally used Brian and can give him a slight pass, I repeat slight, for what he did to Deliah.....Angela used him and she sucked for it. She totally took advantage of him.
I remember Danielle's crush on Brian though...Eww Danielle, always looked like the walking dead to me. Tsk I can just imagine the drama that could have possibly insued with her as she got older. I can imagine Angela having to "save" her or Rayanne taking her under her wing and telling her not to be so wild (because you knew Danielle was going to act out in some way, she was just too invisible to her parents).

Danielle was perfectly cast -- such an annoying little sister -- you just wanted to smack her!

I still think that the song Juliana Hatfield sang in the episode where she was the homeless angel isthe best holiday song in the world.

Oh my gosh - I have found my people!!
Lixxie, I'm with you 100% on the Grant love. He was by far the sexiest guy on that show. Granted, Jordan came in at an extremely close second, but there was just "something" about Grant. He was so boyish and endearing. Watching the DVD's now, 10 years later, my crush has deepened.
I was the exact same age as the teenage characters when this show was out, so I definetly related to them on so many levels. I remember watching the episode where Angela was debating sleeping with Jordan, while I had JUST lost my virginity like the NIGHT before!
What a great show.

I don't think I fully realize how good of a show it was until I watched the DVDs about 3 years ago and gained a new understanding and appreciation of the parents.
When the show was on TV I always felt so sorry for Graham and his shrew of a wife. But watching it more recently I felt bad for Patty too. True, she emasculated Graham too often but he also needed to grow a spine sometimes.
My husband was laid off for a while so I really indentified with the scenes right after he quit the copy place and had no plans. I can understand why Patty was infuriated so often. She had to be the working one, she had to be the disciplinarian, she had to be the responsible one, she carried the family quite often and then everyone was like "you're no fun!"

LOL - yes, I meant Graham! Sorry about that - don't know where my head was this morning.
