I loved My So Called Life! Does anyone remember when it was on MTV? They replayed the whole season for a year or two and I watched obsessively then too.
I was a freshman in high school when it was on and identified with so much of what Angela was going through. One storyline I was really interested in was Graham possibly cheating with his female friend. I can't remember what the friend's name was, but she had a fiance named Brad and they took cooking classes together. It seemed like the second season would have developed that a bit more, but ah well, we'll never know.
I have to say, one of my favorite celebrity encounters was meeting "Rickie" (don't know his real name) at a party. The episode where Delia and Ricki were dancing, they were doing this really exaggerated, flailing arm type dance, which my friends and I used to mimic all the time. I approached "Rickie" and told him all about my friends and how we used do his dance. He was so cool and sweet and he even did the dance with me for a bit!

Hallie Lowenthal. Ten-plus years and I still remember Can you tell I was obsessed with that show? "Rickie" did THE dance with you? I am jealous.

I looked at this on Amazon and other than the book is there any difference in this DVD release and the one several years ago? (Might have been more than several at this point I guess) I can't believe how much I still love this show and what an impact it had on me at that time.

I know. I haven't watched my DVDs in years (since I first got them, maybe five years ago), but I still remember it so well, down to tiny details. Such a great show. I was watching YouTube clips the other day. Twelve years later, the show is still as good as I remembered it.

I believe Rickie's real name is Wilson Cruz. How awesome you met him! The Christmas episode where Rickie was kicked out of his house and runs into Angela and her family at Midnight Mass, and refuses their offer to spend the night with them...and winds up on the doorstep of his teacher (and the teacher's partner; teacher was gay), crying, in the cold...oh man, it still makes me cry all these years later! BTW, that ep was based on what happened to Wilson Cruz when he came out to his folks. Fortunately, they came around and he's a part of their lives. BTW, Wilson, if you read this, thank you thank you thank you for being Rickie on MSCL.

Yep. Twelve years later, and I'm still pissed they cancelled it. I was so pissed when they cancelled it, I refused to watch anything in that time slot for the rest of the season in protest. The demise of no other TV show had affected me that much. They could have at least wrapped up some loose ends. A movie perhaps?

From what I've heard, CD wanted to move on to other things (and, judging what she's done since, that was a very good idea) and there wasn't an MSCL without her (although they probably could have pulled a spin-off off decently if they had everyone else). If she'd been on board, might have stood a better chance.
